Upcoming Expansion for Age of Mythology: Retold
Excitement is building as Age of Mythology: Retold prepares to launch its inaugural major expansion, showcasing new gameplay elements. The development team at Microsoft has committed to unveiling detailed insights each weekend. Following an exploration of the “evil”myth units inspired by Chinese mythology in the upcoming “Immortal Pillars”expansion, the focus now shifts to the “noble”myth units that will shape gameplay.
The Four Auspicious Beasts
Central to this expansion are the Four Auspicious Beasts, each bringing unique attributes and capabilities to players:
Baihu: The White Tiger
The first unit, Baihu, represents a formidable Heroic Age unit accessible to followers of Rushou. This striking white tiger excels in melee combat, possessing the remarkable ability to immobilize adversaries while unleashing a burst of damage. Additionally, its presence can disrupt enemy formations effectively, making it an ideal choice for chaotic engagements.
Xuanwu: The Tortoise-Snake Hybrid
Next in line is the Xuanwu, a dual-role Mythic Age unit available to all Chinese gods. This well-armored creature combines features of a tortoise and a snake, thriving both on land and in water. Adding to its menace, the snake component can launch venomous attacks from a distance, enhancing its tactical versatility on the battlefield.
Qinglong: The Dragon of Water
No mythological expansion would be complete without the iconic dragon. For the god Gonggong, the Qinglong shines during the Mythic Age. This auspicious beast wields a devastating area-of-effect attack, utilizing powerful water blasts to damage multiple enemy units simultaneously.
Zhuque: The Fiery Bird
Rounding out the roster is the Zhuque, a Mythic Age unit summoned by Zhurong followers. This fiery avian not only serves as a crucial support unit but also possesses a shield ability, granting temporary protection to itself and nearby allies. Moreover, it boasts a unique rapid healing skill, activated through the Song of Midsummer technology, further solidifying its role in bolstering team defenses.
