The highly anticipated Season 14 of the pirate adventure game Sea of Thieves, developed by Rare, is set to launch soon. This update emphasizes enhancements to both stealth mechanics and player mobility, while introducing an array of new tools designed for creative mischief against other players.
In Sea of Thieves, players usually enjoy a vast degree of freedom while navigating their pirate adventures. However, employing stealth has posed challenges due to limited options for remaining discreet around fellow players. To address this issue, Rare is introducing a crouching mechanic. Although crouching will reduce speed, players will benefit from complete concealment of their name plates, making it considerably more difficult for NPC enemies to discover them.
Additionally, the option for disguises will now extend to include treasure chests, supplementing the existing barrels. Players can even adopt a stealthy approach by moving cautiously while disguised as these objects. Furthermore, crafty pirates can consume the new Merfruit item to eliminate the pesky mermaid that constantly attempts to transport them back to their ships. To enhance infiltration tactics, players will now have the ability to dangle over the side of ships, further aiding in remaining undetected.
Beyond the stealth improvements, Rare is also unveiling a hand-held grapple gun, a revolutionary new weapon. Similar to ship-mounted harpoons, this tool allows players to retrieve items from a distance but can also facilitate swift land or ship traversal, akin to a pirate-themed Batman. Additionally, a Blow Dart weapon will make its debut, available in poison, lure, and explosive ammunition variations.
In a final exciting addition, players will gain access to placeable traps as a new weapon category. Once positioned, these traps can be equipped with different effects using cursed cannonballs and fireworks for added flair. For even more cunning tricks, players can partially bury traps to make them less noticeable, although those who do spot them will have the chance to disarm them.
With all these thrilling features poised for release, Sea of Thieves Season 14 is set to launch on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation on October 17. Players can look forward to detailed patch notes accompanying this update.
