Rapper Lakeyah has recently addressed TikTok influencer Takeisha Lafaye after Lafaye made a comment that did not sit well with her. The ensuing exchange escalated into a heated argument, with clips of their confrontation going viral on social media.
The dispute started during a live stream, where Lafaye asserted that Lakeyah, a Milwaukee, Wisconsin native, had not made a significant impact in the music industry compared to other female artists. Lakeyah was heard responding to Lafaye:
“You think you amounted to more than me?”
Lafaye laughed in response and remarked:
“You really meant about my opinion like this sh*t crazy sound of me. Are you okay? You pose to be a lie scan rap, you pose to be the hottest b*tch out right now, where’s your hit song b*tch?”
Lafaye continued to challenge Lakeyah about her hit songs, claiming at one point:
“I’m the biggest hater b*tch. I’m the biggest.”
Also known as Lakeyah Danaee Robinson, she expressed her frustration and responded:
“I’d be around b*tches who real.”
Despite Lakeyah’s responses, Lafaye didn’t seem particularly impacted and clarified towards the end:
“When I say amount to nothing, I didn’t mean like your whole existence, I mean you don’t amount to nothing in the rap space. You don’t make no noise in the rap space. I wasn’t saying your entire f*cking life means to nothing.”
Lakeyah: A Rising Star in the Music Industry
At just 23 years old, Lakeyah has been making waves in the music scene since her debut four years ago, steadily building a significant fanbase. She has been associated with Quality Control Music, nurturing her passion for rap since she was 15.
Lakeyah initially gained popularity by participating in the viral #SoGoneChallenge. Following the success of her track, she started rolling out more singles across various platforms. Influenced by industry icons like Nicki Minaj and Drake, she carved out her own niche.
In a 2020 interview with XXL Magazine, she discussed how critics compared her style to artists from Detroit, particularly Saweetie, but she disagreed. She shared:
“I think it’s pretty normal because they do that to people that’s fresh in the game, especially girls. I was trending on YouTube because Milwaukee was arguing with Detroit, and my song started trending. I’m glad that we were fighting with y’all.”
Reflecting on her career highlights, Danaee Robinson recounted the moment she began trending on YouTube and got to meet Lil Baby. In another interview with Refinery 29 in 2022, Lakeyah discussed her collaboration with female artists in a male-dominated industry, stating:
“I really want to get as many as I can because [there’s] just something about people seeing that female rappers are collabing more than competing. I feel like we’re changing the whole game.”
In addition to her music career, Lakeyah was named a brand ambassador for Rihanna’s lingerie line, Savage X Fenty. Her first major project, a mixtape titled Time’s Up, was released in 2020.
In 2022, Lakeyah dropped two EPs and boasts an impressive catalog of singles including Female Goat, Poppin, Easy, Too Much, and I Look Good.
