4A Games Rebrands to Reburn and Introduces New Game: La Quimera

In a significant turn of events, 4A Games Ukraine has announced its rebranding to Reburn, alongside the unveiling of an exciting new cooperative sci-fi first-person shooter titled La Quimera.

Background on the Transition

The announcement may come as a surprise to fans of the Metro series. To clarify, the change follows a series of challenging circumstances in Ukraine that began in 2014, prompting part of the 4A Games team to relocate to Malta. Despite this transition, both studios collaborated on the successful launch of Metro Exodus in 2019.

Post-launch, 4A Games Malta and 4A Games Ukraine grew independently capable enough to manage their own projects. The Malta office was subsequently acquired by Embracer, while the Ukrainian division opted to remain independent and secured separate investments. This development ultimately facilitated the creation of their new intellectual property, La Quimera.

Insights from Reburn’s CEO

Dmytro Lymar, the founder and CEO of Reburn, expressed his enthusiasm about the new project:

“Reburn is proud to introduce La Quimera, which draws upon our success crafting narrative-driven shooter games for the Metro series. We look forward to sharing this mysterious new world with players and hope they revel in suiting up to join the fight.”

La Quimera will be set within a vibrant Latin American megacity as well as expansive jungle settings. Players will have the opportunity to take on the role of a customizable exosuit-wearing PMC (Private Military Company) soldier, maneuvering through conflicts with rival factions. The narrative, shaped by renowned filmmaker Nicolas Winding Refn (known for projects like Drive and The Neon Demon), promises to entwine Latin American folklore with cutting-edge weaponry.

Designed for both solo players and cooperative gameplay for up to three players, La Quimera offers an engaging experience that blends stunning environments, unique characters, and advanced gameplay mechanics. While a release date has yet to be announced, Reburn has committed to unveiling more details in the near future.
