Discover How to Enable New Advanced Settings Rolled Out by Microsoft for Windows 11

Microsoft’s Upcoming “Advanced Settings”for Windows 11

Recent revelations indicate that Microsoft is developing a new section in Windows 11 Settings, dubbed “Advanced Settings.”This feature was first identified in a preview build for Windows Server but is now becoming available to Windows Insiders, albeit with the default functionality disabled. Fortunately, users can easily activate it.

Enhancements in “Advanced Settings”

The “Advanced Settings”page revamps the previous “For Developers”section found under Settings > System. This area is designed not just for app developers and tech enthusiasts, but it also offers features beneficial to everyday users. As highlighted in my article detailing crucial steps after installing Windows 11, many of these settings can enhance the user experience significantly. The updated interface introduces a more organized layout, simplifying navigation and exploration of its features.

Accessing the “Advanced Settings”Page

While Microsoft has yet to officially announce the “Advanced Settings”feature, it is already functional in the latest preview builds available through the Dev and Beta Channels. Notably, this rollout occurs via an update from the Microsoft Store. To check for this update, navigate to the “Downloads”section and look for the “Windows Advanced Settings”component.

Steps to Enable the Updated Settings Section

  1. Download ViVeTool from GitHub and extract the files to a convenient location.
  2. Open Command Prompt as an Administrator, and use the CD command to navigate to the folder containing ViVeTool files. For example, type CD C:\Vive.
  3. Execute the command vivetool /enable /id:56005157 and hit Enter.
  4. Restart your computer to apply the changes.

What to Expect at Microsoft’s Build Conference

With Microsoft’s annual Build developer conference scheduled for next week, anticipation is building over new developer features and enhancements. The introduction of the “Advanced Settings”page may be among the expected announcements.
