Today, we shared news about an impending modification that Microsoft is implementing regarding the management of New Outlook for Windows and Outlook for the web policies.
A user on Reddit has unveiled a method to prevent the installation of the New Outlook for Windows app on personal computers. The process is quite straightforward and involves deceiving both the Microsoft Store and Windows into thinking that you plan to install the application, even if your actual intention is to leave it in limbo.
The Redditor Commercial_Use6316 shares the details of this workaround:
I’m not sure if this will work for everyone, but I’ve successfully prevented the new Outlook from launching every time I restart my PC for several days now. I’ve attempted to uninstall it numerous times, but now I have a solution.
- Remove the application via Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Open the Microsoft Store and search for the New Outlook.
- Hit the install button for the New Outlook, but pause the installation immediately.
- Exit the Microsoft Store.
And that’s all! I hope this helps others eliminate it as well.
Essentially, this method involves keeping the Microsoft Store’s download manager stuck in an endless installation cycle by simply pausing the app’s setup process. However, similar to any workaround, it’s possible that this solution may not be permanent, and Microsoft could soon address this loophole.
