The Brave and The Bold: Casting Clarity from Director Andy Muschietti
In light of swirling rumors regarding Robert Pattinson’s Batman potentially joining the new DC Universe, director Andy Muschietti has made a definitive statement about the future of the franchise. During a recent interview with RaidoTU, Muschietti shed light on the upcoming film, The Brave and The Bold, which is currently under development at DC Studios.
Pattinson’s Batman Not Part of New Universe
Muschietti addressed the speculation head-on, emphasizing that a new actor will portray the iconic Caped Crusader in the upcoming project. He clarifies:
As everyone knows, the Batman featured in The Brave and the Bold will belong to the new DC universe. It’s quite obvious that Matt Reeves’ Batman is not part of this new universe. However, DC and Warner Bros. are moving forward with the second part of Reeves’ Batman series, which, as widely reported, is expected to release around 2027.
This means the next Batman movie will take some time before it sees the light of day. Releasing two Batman films simultaneously would be counterproductive. What DC is doing is creating a strategy to ensure these two films don’t conflict with each other. Regarding my involvement in the project, there are good intentions for now. They want to do the movie with me, and I want to do it as well. I’m eager to work on the film.
Strategic Planning for the Batman Franchise
Muschietti’s comments come on the heels of remarks made by director Matt Reeves, who indicated that there were no current plans to incorporate Pattinson’s version of Batman into the broader DC Universe. Reeves pointed out that any such decision would depend on its viability, stating, “It really comes down to whether or not it makes sense.” This recent clarification from Muschietti suggests that any notion of combining these Bat-versons has been firmly dismissed.
With The Brave and The Bold on the horizon and a separate film from Reeves set to emerge in the coming years, fans may be excited about the distinct directions both narratives may take, all while DC aims to avoid potential conflicts between their projects.
