Diddy’s Lawyer Offers Insight on Rapper’s Positive Mental State Amid Reports of Being Removed from Suicide Watch

Rapper Diddy was apprehended on September 16, 2024, facing serious allegations including racketeering, transportation for the purpose of prostitution, and sex trafficking. Following his arrest, he was transported to the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, where he was placed under suicide watch, a status that involves increased monitoring due to the heightened risk of self-harm among inmates.

Reports indicate that Diddy has since been removed from suicide watch, as unnamed sources within the Metropolitan Detention Center revealed to PEOPLE. His attorney, Marc Agnifilo, discussed Diddy’s mental state during an interview with TMZ, stating:

“His state of mind is actually remarkably positive.”

According to the U.S. Department of Justice’s National Institute of Corrections, suicide watch involves a collection of measures taken for inmates who exhibit suicidal thoughts and require close observation.

According to PEOPLE, it was noted that both rapper Diddy and FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried are being held in the same section of the facility, which houses approximately 1,600 inmates. This facility has garnered a reputation for being both understaffed and potentially dangerous.

“His resolve is strong, he’s engaged, he’s focused on his defense”- Diddy’s lawyer

Post-arrest, Diddy was visited by family members at the detention center prior to his trial set to commence in early October. Attorney Marc Agnifilo remarked on the rapper’s mental health to TMZ:

“I spend several hours with him every day. His resolve is strong, he’s engaged, he’s focused on his defense.”

Agnifilo also conveyed that Diddy is determined to “right his wrongs,”which is instilling a sense of confidence and resilience in him that may help him navigate this challenging period.

The “Coming Home”rapper’s lawyer emphasized the daily visits and how Diddy has accepted his current situation within the detention center. Marc also mentioned that the legal team is working diligently to expedite the trial process.

In discussing Diddy’s current mental outlook, his attorney stated:

“There’s an adage that we have in my office: ‘Don’t tell me what I did wrong, tell me what I do next.’ And that’s where he is.”

This isn’t the first occasion in which Diddy’s lawyer has spoken out regarding the rapper’s indictment. Shortly after Diddy’s arraignment on September 17, 2024, Marc Agnifilo issued a statement, emphasizing that Diddy traveled to New York to “establish his innocence.”

According to the attorney’s statement, as reported by The Hindustan Times on September 18, 2024:

“He’s not afraid, he’s not afraid of the charges. There’s nothing that the government said in their presentation today that changes anyone’s mind about anything.”

Marc continued:

“He’s been looking forward to this day; he’s been looking forward to clearing his name, and he’s going to clear his name. We’re going to stand by his side as he does.”

Following his arrest, the “Last Night”rapper proposed a $50 million bail package, which a judge denied, thus requiring him to remain in the detention center until the trial.

Additionally, Agnifilo disclosed in his interview with TMZ that Diddy is eager to testify and is prepared to present his side of the story.
