Diddy’s Bail Appeal Proposal: Restrictions on Women in His Home and Weekly Drug Testing

Sean “Diddy”Combs and his legal representatives have initiated an appeal against the decision made by Judge Andrew L. Carter, which denied the rapper bail in his ongoing legal situation. According to Rolling Stone, the proposed bail package contains stipulations such as mandatory weekly drug tests and restrictions against any woman or alleged “co-conspirators”entering his residence.

Diddy was taken into custody on September 16 in New York, facing serious charges including s*x trafficking, racketeering, and transportation for prostitution. Nevertheless, the hip-hop icon has entered a plea of not guilty to all the charges brought against him.

Following his arrest, the rapper has been denied bail on two occasions and is currently being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. Reports indicate that post-denial, Diddy was placed under suicide watch due to what is described as his unstable mental health.

There are also claims that the rapper has ceased eating out of fear of being poisoned.

As per a new report from Rolling Stone, Diddy’s legal team has formally filed an appeal to overturn the bail denial, seeking to allow him to serve his time at home. Although no official documents have been made public, it is reported that Diddy has “promised”to comply with weekly drug testing and to prevent any women or individuals who could be viewed as “co-conspirators”from entering his premises upon potential release.

Marc Agnifilo, Diddy’s attorney, stated that the bail appeal would permit only Diddy’s “family, property caretakers, and friends who do not qualify as co-conspirators”to visit him at home.

Furthermore, the stipulations indicate that no women, except for his mother and the mothers of his children, would be allowed entry to his home.

Security measures will be in place to maintain a “visitor’s log”to monitor anyone entering Diddy’s residence, and this log must be submitted to the court every evening.

Prior to the recent appeal, Diddy had his bail denied twice by judges. During his first attempt, U.S. Magistrate Judge Robyn Tarnofsky sided with the arguments presented by U.S. attorneys, who asserted that releasing him would pose a threat to public safety.

As outlined in a court transcript (as reported by USA Today), Judge Tarnofsky remarked:

“I don’t believe that counsel has the ability to control you, given the very significant concerns I have, particularly because of substance abuse and what seem like anger issues.”

She further noted that Diddy’s bond package did not sufficiently ensure “his return to court or the safety of the community, or a lack of witness tampering.”

In his second bail attempt, Diddy’s legal team submitted a letter to Judge Carter on September 18, proposing a $50 million bond secured through equity from his and his mother’s properties in Florida. The hip-hop mogul also guaranteed that he would be available for government supervision.

Nonetheless, Judge Carter upheld Judge Tarnofsky’s earlier decision, leading to a second bail denial.

Post-denial, Marc Agnifilo committed to appealing the bail decision in hopes of securing Diddy’s release from the Metropolitan Detention Center. After the court session on September 18, Agnifilo expressed:

“I told Mr. Combs I’m going to try and get his case to trial as quickly as possible. I’m going to try to minimize the amount of time he spends in very very difficult and I believe inhumane housing conditions in the Special Housing Unit of the Metropolitan Detention Facility.”

Diddy’s next court hearing is set for October 9.
