Rapper and music mogul Sean “Diddy”Combs is currently being held in a federal prison in Brooklyn after Judge Andrew L. Carter denied the Bad Boy CEO’s appeal for release on a $50 million bond.
On September 16, 2024, P. Diddy was arrested in Manhattan on multiple charges including “federal s*x trafficking and racketeering.”The unsealed indictment, as reported by the Associated Press, outlines assault allegations dating back to the late 2000s.
The indictment details allegations involving involuntary “s*xual performances,”termed “freak offs,”which may be linked to the 1,000 bottles of baby oil discovered during a Homeland Security raid at Diddy’s mansion.
If convicted on all charges, Sean Combs faces a potential sentence of 15 years to life in prison. The indictment claims that Sean “Diddy”Combs was operating a criminal enterprise through Bad Boy Records, leveraging his position to manipulate and coerce those around him.
The allegations further assert that the rapper and his associates exploited their label’s influence to conceal involvement in illegal activities, including s*x trafficking, forced labor, kidnapping, arson, bribery, and obstruction of justice.
“Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is a music icon, self-made entrepreneur, loving family man, and proven philanthropist who has spent the last 30 years building an empire, adoring his children, and working to uplift the Black community. He is an imperfect person, but he is not a criminal,”stated Diddy’s attorney, Marc Agnifilo.
Recently, on October 1, 2024, Houston attorney Tony Buzbee announced his firm will represent 120 accusers and confirmed that lawsuits will be filed against the music mogul next month.
A Complete Timeline of Charges Against Sean “Diddy”Combs
With a growing number of lawsuits and allegations against the Bad Boy CEO, including 120 additional filings expected, Diddy’s attorney, Marc Agnifilo, made a public statement on the day of his arrest:
“To his credit, Mr. Combs has been nothing but cooperative with this investigation, and he voluntarily relocated to New York last week in anticipation of these charges. Please reserve your judgment until you have all the facts. These are the acts of an innocent man with nothing to hide, and he looks forward to clearing his name in court.”
Many lawsuits against Sean Combs followed his settlement of an “assault lawsuit”with former partner Cassie Ventura on November 17, 2023. Here is a complete timeline of charges against the music mogul.
1) November 2023 “Assault Lawsuits”
Cassie and Sean met in 2005 and publicly became a couple two months later. They ended their relationship in October 2018, after which Ventura filed her “assault lawsuit.”
On November 16, 2023, Cassie Ventura filed a lawsuit against Diddy, alleging sexual assault and years of “mental and physical abuse”during their relationship.
Cassie’s $30 million lawsuit was settled the next day for an undisclosed amount, with Combs’ legal team asserting that the mogul’s decision to settle does not imply guilt and is not an admission of wrongdoing.
Shortly thereafter, on November 23, 2023, two additional “assault”lawsuits were filed against Sean Combs, just before the expiration of the New York State Adult Survivors Act.
The filings included accusations from an anonymous individual and a woman named Joi Dickerson-Neal, both alleging instances of “r*pe”and “s*xual assault”in 1990 and 1991, respectively.
The anonymous lawsuit also claims that singer-songwriter Aaron Hall participated in the alleged assault after an MCA Records event in New York. Neal’s lawsuit accuses Diddy of having “drugged, s*xually assaulted, and secretly filmed”their encounter while she was a college student in 1991.
2) December 2023 “Assault Lawsuit”
An unnamed woman, referred to as a “Jane Doe”accuser, filed a lawsuit against Diddy citing instances of “gangr*pe, s*xual assault, and trafficking.”
The lawsuit includes claims involving former Bad Boy Records president Harve Pierre in a “forced s*xual performance”with the unnamed party, alongside Sean and another unidentified individual.
The charges, filed on December 06, 2023, stirred significant discussion as the lawsuit claimed Jane Doe was “only 17 years old”during her alleged interactions with Sean Combs, who was then 34. The music mogul addressed the growing online criticism in a now-deleted Instagram post, where he stated:
“For the last couple of weeks, I have sat silently and watched people try to assassinate my character, destroy my reputation and my legacy. Sickening allegations have been made against me by individuals looking for a quick payday. Let me be absolutely clear: I did not do any of the awful things being alleged.”
On May 10, 2024, Combs’ legal team requested a federal judge to dismiss this lawsuit “with prejudice,”aiming to prevent further damage to the rapper’s reputation.
“Mr. Combs and his companies categorically deny Plaintiff’s decades-old tale against them… Plaintiff cannot allege what day or time of year the alleged incident occurred, but miraculously remembers other salacious details, despite her alleged incapacitated condition.”- The court filing read.
3) February 2024 “S*xual Misconduct Lawsuit”
Producer Rodney ‘Lil Rod’ Jones filed the fifth lawsuit against Diddy in New York on February 26, 2024, claiming he was “subjected to unwanted advances by associates of Diddy at his direction.”
Lil Rod also alleges that the Bad Boy CEO forced him into physical relations with s*x workers at what were referred to as “s*x-trafficking parties,”which included underage girls. The producer described instances of groping, s*xual misconduct, and harassment occurring at Combs’ Miami Mansion.
Regarding the 2023 Miami incident, Rod reported that he woke up “naked, dizzy, and confused”in bed with Diddy and two escorts, claiming he had been drugged. Shawn Holley publicly denied Rodney Jones’ allegations, stating:
“We have overwhelming, indisputable proof that his claims are complete lies. We will address these outlandish allegations in court and take all appropriate action against those who make them.”
4) May 2024 “Assault Lawsuits”
Weeks after federal agents and U.S. Homeland Security raided Sean Combs’ mansions in Los Angeles and Miami, another “s*xual assault”lawsuit was filed against the rapper.
“The gut-wrenching video has only further confirmed the disturbing and predatory behavior of Mr. Combs. Words cannot express the courage and fortitude that Ms. Ventura has shown in coming forward to bring this to light,”Cassie Ventura’s lawyer remarked.
Former model Crystal McKinney filed her lawsuit in Manhattan federal court on May 21, 2024. She accuses Sean of coercing her into performing “oral s*xual acts”by offering her spiked alcohol and marijuana.
Her lawsuit claims the alleged assault occurred in 2003 within a bathroom of a New York City recording studio. Crystal also included Combs’ Bad Boy Records, Universal Music Group, and Sean John Clothing as defendants, alleging they were aware of Diddy’s behavior yet continued to place him in “positions of power.”
The allegations against Diddy include three instances of “r*pe”and one incident where he allegedly forced her to consume ecstasy, purportedly occurring between 1995 and 2001.
5) September 2024 “Arson Allegation”
A memo submitted to New York Judge Robyn F. Tarnofsky on September 17, 2024, by U.S. Attorney Damian Williams discussed an instance of “alleged arson”involving Sean Combs’ unnamed “co-conspirators,”who allegedly set a convertible car on fire.
The report mentions that the vehicle’s top was cut open, and a “Molotov cocktail”was thrown inside, with police and fire department reports indicating the fire was intentional.
The report aligns with an allegation made by Cassie Ventura in her November 2023 lawsuit, where she accused Diddy of setting Kid Cudi’s car on fire in a rage, suspecting him of involvement with his former partner.
6) September 2024 “Assault Lawsuits”
Shortly after Diddy’s arrest, Thalia Graves filed the eighth lawsuit against Sean Combs on September 26, 2024. In this lawsuit, Graves claims that Diddy used his influence at Bad Boy Records to facilitate a meeting with her in 2001, where she alleges she was r*ped.
The meeting was reportedly held at a Manhattan studio to discuss issues related to the accuser’s boyfriend’s “live performance.”Thalia recounts being offered a glass of wine that made her feel “lightheaded, dizzy, and physically weak”before losing consciousness. She claims Sean and his bodyguard, Joseph Sherman, drugged, r*ped, and filmed her, asserting instances of “power abuse”and “intimidation.”
A day later, another “Jane Doe”lawsuit was filed against the music mogul by an anonymous individual, claiming multiple instances of s*xual assault.
This filing alleges Diddy “drugged and r*ped”the plaintiff, seeking damages for physical injuries, emotional distress, humiliation, anxiety, and more. The plaintiff also stated she became pregnant following one of her encounters with the rapper.
7) October 2024 “Tony Buzbee Lawsuits”
On October 1, 2024, Texas lawyer Tony Buzbee announced at a news conference that over 3,000 individuals approached his firm with serious accusations against the music mogul.
Buzbee confirmed that his firm will represent 120 of these lawsuits, with several others still under review. He stated his intention to treat each of these allegations as individual lawsuits against Sean Combs. The lawyer hinted that the names linked to these cases would “shock”people when revealed later.
“Violent s*xual assault or r*pe, facilitated s*x with a controlled substance, dissemination of video recordings, s*xual abuse of minors.”- Tony Buzbee on the allegations in his firm’s 120-case file.
Prior to his arrest, on September 9, 2024, Sean “Diddy”Combs was served with a $100 million default judgment concerning an alleged “s*xual assault”incident dating back to 1997.
According to a Lenawee County Circuit Judge’s ruling, Diddy is required to pay this amount to inmate Derrick Lee Cardello-Smith for reparations regarding a claimed incident from over 30 years ago.
