Nicki Minaj is currently on her fourth world tour, known as the Pink Friday 2 Tour, during which a specific video clip went viral on Monday, September 30.

In the viral clip, Minaj was performing on stage alongside fellow rapper BIA as they delivered their hit song WHOLE LOTTA MONEY. However, mid-performance, Nicki unexpectedly paused the music, shouted her DJ’s name, Boof, five times, and joked, “you’re fired”.

The clip quickly gained traction on X (formerly Twitter), but was later flagged as “misleading”by the platform’s Community Note, as both Minaj and DJ Boof denied any serious fallout.

The community note stated:

“This post might be misleading, as Nicki Minaj did not fire her DJ after the incident. That’s just how she and DJ Boof interact as friends, joking around. She didn’t mean it seriously.”

This Isn’t the First Time Nicki Minaj Has Joked About Firing DJ Boof

About eight hours after the clip was shared from the X account of @mymixtapez, DJ Boof referred to it as “fake news.”He further posted a screenshot of his Instagram story, announcing an upcoming show in Kansas City. If he had indeed been fired, there would be no need for such an announcement.

Nicki Minaj also addressed the viral tweet, tackling various ongoing rumors that include firing her DJ, allegedly kicking “her cameraman in the face,”and snatching “the mic from security.”She emphasized that, despite the rumors, she’s still the most streamed artist and “loved in real life.”

This isn’t the first time Nicki Minaj has teased about letting DJ Boof go. On Friday, September 27, a fan from her base, the Barbz, (@KaishaSpears), tweeted a selfie with Boof from Minaj’s concert in San Diego. In a lighthearted manner, Minaj threatened to fire Boof if he posed with fans again, saying:

“Dear DJ Boof, I see you taking pics with my Barbz ever again, you gon be on the unemployment line, sir.”

On May 27, during the tour, a fan requested an autograph on her chest from DJ Boof, who complied and later shared a picture of it on Instagram.

This incident was screen-captured and shared on X by a fan who disapproved of it. When Minaj noticed this, she jokingly replied, reiterating her intent to fire Boof if he ever did something similar again.

He also recounted an amusing incident where Minaj donned boxing gloves during rehearsal and playfully threw jabs at him. Boof shared:

“The way she started throwing jabs at me had me like, ‘Yo, girls don’t throw jabs like that. You’re throwing jabs like a real boxer.’ Most guys when they play fight, they’re not trying to connect. She almost connected and it almost hit me (laughs).”

When asked about the wildest thing he’d seen a fan do for Nicki Minaj, Boof responded:

“The craziest thing I’ve seen is someone gets her face tattooed on their body. That’s a superfan (laughs). I love her to death, but I don’t think I can tattoo my favorite artist on my body.”
