  • Players can also look forward to facing returning endgame bosses, such as Andariel and Duriel, enhancing familiar gameplay dynamics.

Diablo 4 has announced the inclusion of Belial, a prominent figure from Diablo 3, as an endgame boss in its upcoming Season 8. Each season in Diablo 4 introduces new threats across Sanctuary, and this time, veteran players will recognize some iconic adversaries.

Since the game’s launch, players have had to contend with the Butcher, a nightmarish entity that has claimed many lives since first appearing in the original Diablo. Season 5 saw the introduction of the Fell Council, tragic heroes corrupted in their battle against Mephisto from Diablo 2. Now, with Season 8 approaching, players will face yet another formidable foe in Belial.

Revealed during a Campfire Chat on March 7, Belial will headline the new tiered structure of endgame bosses in Diablo 4. The updated system categorizes encounters into three levels: Initiate, Greater, and Exalted. As the highest-tier boss, players will need to acquire a Betrayer’s Husk to summon Belial for battle. Conquering this challenge is expected to yield substantial rewards, including Ancestral Unique items.

Belial is one of the most notorious demons in the Diablo universe, classified as one of the four Lesser Evils and recognized as the brother of Azmodan. His tactical brilliance, developed under the tutelage of Mephisto, has earned him the moniker of the Lord of Lies. Players first confront Belial in the decisive quest of Diablo 3’s second act, where an epic showdown unfolds. The battle is staged over two phases, beginning with Belial summoning his minions before players face his true form in a dramatic climax.

With the refreshing rework in endgame boss encounters, players can look forward to additional Initiate tier challenges, against foes such as Beast in the Ice, Grigoire, Lord Zir, Varshan, and Urivar. The Greater tier will bring back notable figures like Andariel, Duriel, and the Harbinger of Hatred. It’s essential for players to note that Urivar and Harbinger of Hatred are exclusively accessible to those who own the Vessel of Hatred expansion.
