Diablo 4 Guide: Unlocking Piranhado Skills

Diablo 4 Guide: Unlocking Piranhado Skills

The Piranhado ability in Diablo 4 is a nostalgic nod to the iconic Piranhas rune associated with the Witch Doctor class in the previous installment. In Season 7, this powerful feature reemerges as a Witchcraft Power, accessible to players regardless of their selected character class.

While it’s intriguing to have an entire skill from a particular class functioning as a passive ability, acquiring Piranhado poses its own challenges. As with the other Lost Witchcraft Powers in Diablo 4, patience, dedication, and a sprinkle of good fortune are essential to unlock this skill.

Piranhado's description in Diablo 4

Piranhado is categorized as one of the four Lost Witchcraft Powers, and to acquire it, players need to locate a Forgotten Altar. These altars materialize randomly in various dungeons, including normal, Nightmare Dungeons, as well as maps within the Pit of Artificers.

When activated, Piranhado releases a tornado swarming with piranhas that actively seeks out enemies. This skill triggers when an adversary is afflicted by both a Hex and an Aura effect, effectively sucking them into the chaotic whirlpool.

It’s essential to note that Forgotten Altars only appear on Torment difficulty, with spawn rates that escalate based on the selected Torment level—starting at 1% and capping at 5% as per Patch 2.1.0. This rate may be subject to future adjustments throughout the season. For a limited time, players can utilize a Draught of Whispers, a consumable item that doubles the chance of encountering Forgotten Altars while concurrently enhancing the odds of finding a Fugitive Head during Headhunt events.

The order of unlocking the Lost Witchcraft Powers from Forgotten Altars is as follows:

  1. Breath of the Coven
  2. Hex Specialization
  3. Aura Specialization
  4. Piranhado

To obtain Piranhado, you will need to discover four Forgotten Altars.

Finding Forgotten Altars Efficiently

Location of the Hoarfrost Demise dungeon in Diablo 4

Given the unpredictable nature of Forgotten Altar spawns, players should prioritize exploring dungeons with compact designs. A prime location for this is the Hoarfrost Demise dungeon, situated in the Fractured Peaks, north of the Bear Tribe Refuge Waypoint and slightly northeast of Kyovashad.

The Hoarfrost Demise dungeon features a notably smaller layout, characterized by short corridors that intertwine in tight loops, making it easy to clear and navigate. Players utilizing mobile builds, such as the Centipede Spiritborn in Diablo 4, will find this location particularly favorable for efficient searches.

If you aim for a more efficient use of your time, consider running through the Pit. Although the likelihood of stumbling upon a Forgotten Altar is lower due to its expansive layout, every run still offers the potential to enhance your Glyphs.
