- Ongoing updates are being developed to address class-specific problems, including issues with the Barbarian’s Mantle and the Necromancer’s Ring.
Blizzard Entertainment has recently announced the suspension of the Decay Augmentation Witchcraft Power in Diablo 4. This action follows reports of players exploiting the power to inflict damage levels that far exceed intended capabilities. Season 7, which launched in January, allowed players to collaborate with the Witches of Hawezar in pursuit of the missing heads from the Tree of Whispers, all while introducing new Witchcraft powers to the game.
As players explored these new abilities, some noted similarities to mechanics from the Witch Doctor class previously featured in Diablo 3. However, the journey hasn’t been without hiccups; many players confronted frequent crashes and glitches, particularly related to certain unique gear. Notably, a specific armor piece for the Barbarian was found to be bugged at the beginning of the season. Yet, Blizzard’s response was swift, acting quickly to address more critical issues.
Upcoming Updates for Diablo 4 Classes
Some #DiabloIV pre-weekend updates:https://t.co/sxdDEB9nlQ — Adam Fletcher (@PezRadar) January 31, 2025
In a recent forum post, Adam Fletcher, Diablo’s Global Director of Community, informed the player base about the Decay Augmentation issue. Fletcher explained that the power was associated with multiple instances of overpowered builds and damage outputs—noted as “very egregious”by the development team. While players can still acquire the Decay Augmentation, Fletcher advised against equipping it until a hotfix is rolled out to resolve these issues.
In addition to the Decay Augmentation situation, Fletcher provided insights into other class-specific challenges that Blizzard is addressing. For instance, the Barbarian’s Mantle of Mountain’s Fury encountered a bug that received an initial hotfix, although players have reported its damage output remains inconsistent. Furthermore, the Necromancer’s Ring of Mendeln exhibits issues with minion builds, with a fix slated for Update 2.1.2.

Among the builds currently captivating players in Season 7 is the Cataclysm Druid. At the Season of Witchcraft’s launch, players witnessed the Druid’s extraordinary damage potential, with reports of one player achieving remarkable performance in Pit 150, the pinnacle of endgame content. Speculation around this phenomenon points to a potential bug affecting Cataclysm scaling, greatly increasing damage multipliers and contributing to extraordinary damage outputs.
