Details on Niles and Matilda’s Relationship in 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days Season 8 Episode 7

The latest episode of Season 7 of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days premiered on Sunday, October 20, 2024. In this installment titled For Whom the Bell Tolls, Niles advanced his relationship with Matilda by proposing to her, which she enthusiastically accepted.

Niles chose a memorial location for this special moment, where he started by sharing the 20 guiding principles he lived by. He hoped these maxims would inspire Matilda to enhance her life. However, Matilda confessed that she found them confusing. Shortly after, Niles kneeled down to present the ring. Although taken aback by the proposition, Matilda joyfully accepted, filled with hope for their future.

On the flip side, Niles was anxious about the future of their relationship since he needed to tell Matilda that the wedding would be postponed. Reluctant to spoil the joyous occasion, he nonetheless shared this uncomfortable truth later that day at a restaurant, which left Matilda feeling blindsided. The star of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days worried about how to explain the situation to her family, fearing they would ridicule her.

“I feel like dying right now”— Matilda expresses her distress after Niles reveals the postponement

Niles had initially shared his 20 maxims with Matilda because he wanted her to find them useful when he broke the news about the wedding delay. The first maxim encouraged avoiding actions driven by anger, while the second advised taking life at a comfortable pace, suggesting that whatever is meant to be will eventually occur.

As he asked Matilda if she understood, she replied, “No,”but he continued reciting the list while she seemed to space out. In a confessional segment, Matilda candidly admitted that the principles meant little to her.

Niles had crafted these maxims to express his deep feelings for Matilda. Eventually, he got down on one knee, revealed the ring, and popped the question. Her delighted surprise culminated in a kiss as she accepted the proposal.

“I really love it baby. I really love it. And I will marry you a hundred times, okay?”she expressed.

Niles asked Matilda to view the ring as a “symbol”of his commitment to her. While Matilda struggled to contain her excitement, Niles’ anxiety grew, and he admitted on camera that he felt so caught up in the moment that he struggled to share the disappointing news.

Although he longed to enjoy this significant occasion with her, he recognized he couldn’t let the day pass without disclosing the reality.

Later on, as the couple celebrated their engagement at a restaurant, Matilda was excited to plan their wedding in Kumasi the next day. However, Niles found the courage to inform Matilda about the wedding postponement.

“I don’t think we can necessarily do it on this trip,”he stated.

He shared that he wanted more time to understand her better before embarking on this new chapter together. Matilda was understandably shocked and dismayed, questioning why he allowed her to tell her family about their marriage if he wasn’t ready. Niles expressed regret for not communicating earlier, but it wasn’t sufficient to ease Matilda’s concerns about her family’s reactions.

She expressed feelings of humiliation, knowing that people would likely laugh at her when they learned of the change. Niles urged her to show her family the ring as a sign of his commitment, asserting that their wedding would not be too far in the future. However, Matilda remained unconvinced.

“I’m not okay at all. I feel like dying right now,”she lamented.

Overwhelmed, Matilda left the restaurant and returned home, unable to find solace.
