Kanye West, who now identifies as Ye, is reportedly embracing a unique “upper-class homeless”existence in Tokyo, Japan. On October 11, 2024, music journalist Touré shared with TMZ that the acclaimed rapper is engaged in self-producing his latest album, titled Bully, from his hotel accommodations.

According to Touré, despite his prolonged stay in the vibrant city, West has opted not to purchase property. He seems to relish the liberties that come with hotel living, freeing him from the responsibilities of maintaining a permanent residence.

Furthermore, Touré mentioned that the rapper appreciates the Tokyo atmosphere where fans tend to respect his privacy, allowing him a reprieve from the overwhelming attention typical of his celebrity status. Ye enjoys the tranquility of Japan, choosing to navigate the city without the usual entourage that he is accustomed to in Los Angeles, where paparazzi frequently bombard him. Touré commented:

“When he’s in Japan, people acknowledge him, but they behave very respectfully. Very rarely do they approach him for pictures, allowing him to roam Japan without security.”

Touré expressed that it remains unclear how long Kanye has been residing in Tokyo, emphasizing that the environment there grants him the serenity needed to concentrate on his music. He stated:

“There was a time spent at the Chateau Marmont in Beverly Hills, followed by a period in Florence, Italy, and more recently, a time in Dubai. His stays typically lasted 2-3 months. Now, however, he finds himself in a hotel in Tokyo.”
