Out of the total, 47 teams have already been confirmed, with the last two set to be determined within the next few days. This year’s PMGC will unfold in two distinct phases: the League Stage, which will take place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and the Grand Finals, scheduled for London, United Kingdom. Kicking off on October 31, 2024, the tournament will conclude on December 8, 2024.

Format and Schedule of PMGC 2024

The structure for the 2024 Global Championship will be similar to last year’s competition. The League Stage, which includes 48 teams, will proceed through three rounds: Group Stage, Survival Stage, and Last Chance.

Group Stage – October 31, 2024 to November 17, 2024

The initial round will see the 48 participating teams divided into three groups (Red, Green, and Yellow), with each group containing 16 teams competing in 24 matches.

The top three teams from each group will secure a direct berth in the Grand Finals. Meanwhile, teams finishing between 4th and 11th will enter the Survival Stage, while the bottom five will be eliminated from the championship.

Survival Stage – November 20, 2024 to November 22, 2024

In this three-day segment, 24 teams from the Group Stage will split into three groups to compete in a round-robin format. The top 16 teams from the aggregate points table will move on to the Last Chance phase, while the bottom eight will be eliminated.

Last Chance – November 23, 2024 and November 24, 2024

The leading 16 teams from the Survival Stage will face off over 12 matches spanning two days. The top six will secure a place in the Grand Finals, with the remaining teams getting eliminated.

Grand Finals – December 6, 2024, to December 8, 2024

The Grand Finals, lasting three days, will include 16 teams: nine from the Group Stage, six from the Last Chance, and one team receiving a direct invitation from the host region. Guild Esports from the UK has been directly invited to participate in the Finale.
