  • While the introduction of new armor sets generates excitement, there is an increasing sense of frustration within the Destiny 2 community regarding bugs and dwindling player numbers.

In a thrilling reveal, Bungie has unveiled a new lineup of armor sets for the upcoming Festival of the Lost event, encouraging players to vote for designs reflecting the Slashers versus Spectres theme, which showcases well-known horror icons like Jason Voorhees and Slenderman. As we step into 2025, Destiny 2 is currently nearing the conclusion of Episode Revenant, allowing players to engage with the story’s finale while earning new rewards, including the coveted Slayer’s Fang.

However, many fans have noted that Episode Revenant has faced considerable challenges. A key aspect of the season involves creating tonics for various buffs; yet, some players have found these tonics malfunctioning, failing to deliver the expected enhancements. Although Bungie has worked diligently to resolve these issues, the overall sentiment among players appears to be declining, reflecting dissatisfaction with the game’s current condition.

Bungie recently shared insights into the Festival of the Lost event through their first blog post of 2025, highlighting upcoming armor sets available during the Halloween celebration. This year’s unique theme, Slashers vs Spectres, draws inspiration from legendary horror figures and urban myths. Players can vote on their preferred designs, which will gain availability in October. Notably, Bungie also confirmed that the Wizard armor that was eliminated in the 2024 Festival of the Lost will return in Episode Heresy.

In the Slashers category, players will immediately recognize armor reflecting iconic horror figures: the Titan and Hunter outfits draw inspiration from Jason Voorhees of the Friday the 13th franchise and Ghostface from Scream, while Warlocks will sport a creepy Scarecrow ensemble. Conversely, the Specters category features Titans in a Babadook design, Hunters as La Llorona, and Warlocks can finally don an official Slenderman armor set.

While many players appreciated Bungie’s homage to horror legends, there was palpable surprise at the early focus on an event slated for ten months ahead. A significant portion of the community had hoped for a discussion regarding the current troubles facing Destiny 2, notably concerning decreasing player engagement and an increase in various gameplay bugs. These ongoing issues have deepened frustrations tied to the experience of Episode Revenant.
