As the countdown to Destiny 2’s highly anticipated third Episode, Heresy, begins—less than two weeks remain—a fresh event is set to enhance the experience. The new event titled “The Past is Prologue”coincides with the weekly reset, marking a celebratory end to the Revenant narrative.
Similar to the Riven’s Wishes from the Season of the Wish, players can earn tokens for a limited period. This time, instead of Wish Tokens, players will gather Bento Tokens by completing various Bento Box quests that involve assisting Drifter in preparing lunch boxes for Eris Morn—an endearing task indeed.
Completing five quests will unlock the Chatterwhite shader, a fan-favorite from the original Destiny. Originally a rare drop from the raid boss Atheon in the Vault of Glass, Chatterwhite served as a contrast to the Superblack shader, igniting friendly rivalry among collectors.
As of the latest update (January 22, 2025), there are currently four Bento Box quests available. Note that the event is time-limited and time-gated. Players can expect the fifth Bento Box quest to be available coinciding with Xûr’s weekend visit. Following that, the remaining quests will unlock with the next reset on January 28, 2025, so prepare to wait until Friday for full access to Chatterwhite.

To kickstart your journey, you’ll need to converse with Drifter in the Annex of the Tower. He will issue the initial quest, Packed Lunch, paving the way for your future quests under his guidance.
The Packed Lunch quest necessitates completing five Bento Box tasks, which cannot be fully executed until January 24, 2025, as Drifter is currently offering only four quests. Upon completion of this quest, you will be awarded the illustrious Chatterwhite shader.

Choosing between Competitive or casual quickplay matches is an option. Use your preferred Hand Cannon for this challenge, with viable recommendations including Igneous Hammer, Fatebringer, Austringer, and Luna’s Howl.

Optimizing Quest Completion
If you’re concerned about the time limitations, consider maximizing efficiency by tackling multiple quests simultaneously. For instance, completing Nightmare Lunch, portions of A Dubious Bento, and Martial Mementos can be efficiently achieved through Nightmare Hunts on the Moon using Malfeasance.
Fortunately, most quests in this event require minimal strategizing, so enjoy the grind and happy hunting!
