Destiny 2 Glitch Allows Players to Access Unreleased Weapons

Destiny 2 enthusiasts have recently observed an intriguing development: unreleased weapons from the impending Episode Heresy—likely tied to Act 2—are unexpectedly appearing in various gameplay activities. This new episode has launched with a level of energy surpassing that of previous installments, Echoes and Revenant. The excitement can largely be attributed to fresh content and significant modifications to core activities, including Trials of Osiris.

However, Episode Heresy is not without its challenges. Similar to earlier episodes, it has experienced a range of major bugs that have soured the experience for some players. Reports from the community highlight several issues, such as the malfunctioning Onslaught: Salvation legacy activity, alongside frequent reports of broken animations, invisible weapons, and buffs that fail to activate properly. Nevertheless, the latest glitches appear to be somewhat more benign compared to complex issues faced in the past.

A curious quirk has emerged: while these unreleased weapons display as ‘???’ in the Destiny Item Manager, they are completely functional, with some even dropping alongside unique perks. Players within the Destiny 2 community have noted a correlation between weapon drops and Episode Heresy’s central feature, known as the Tomb of Want. Reports suggest that players have successfully obtained these unreleased weapons by filling the first section of the Tomb of Want with Episodic Weapons while keeping the second section empty. Another method reported involves utilizing the Essence of Desire, further emphasizing the randomness of the drop rates.

As it stands, there is no indication from Bungie about how they plan to address the premature drops of these unreleased weapons or whether they will simply allow it to continue. The studio is currently managing a multitude of issues, ranging from the aforementioned gameplay bugs to balancing overpowered equipment, such as the recently enhanced Radiant Dance Machines for Hunters, which has sparked debate over whether its effectiveness exceeds intended parameters.
