Resolution Games has unveiled their latest venture: Demeo x Dungeons and Dragons: Battlemarked. This innovative title marks a unique crossover that integrates the Dungeons and Dragons universe with Resolution’s own established role-playing mechanics.
Initially launched on PC in May 2021, Demeo is a dungeon-crawling VR game that expanded to PlayStation VR2 in 2023. Earlier this year, in early 2024, a collaboration was announced between Wizards of the Coast and Resolution Games to develop an officially licensed Dungeons and Dragons VR game.
The project has now been fully revealed, featuring a one-minute live-action promotional trailer that premiered on January 29. Although the trailer does not showcase any gameplay, it highlights that Demeo x Dungeons and Dragons: Battlemarked will leverage Resolution’s foundational expertise while serving as a comprehensive blend of both intellectual properties.
A Unique Approach: No Dungeon Master
At the heart of Battlemarked lies the Demeo tabletop role-playing system which distinguishes it from traditional Dungeons and Dragons gameplay by omitting a dungeon master. The game will be structured around cooperative strategies, fostering communication among players as they collectively engage in tactical and narrative decisions. While retaining core elements of the Demeo system, Battlemarked will also incorporate various DnD classes and actions, drawing from the expansive lore of the Dungeons and Dragons franchise.
In addition to collaborative decision-making, the game will integrate survival elements, helping Demeo carve out its identity as a unique offering within the Dungeons and Dragons-inspired landscape, rather than simply a derivative title. As of now, without a definitive release window established, it appears that Demeo x Dungeons and Dragons: Battlemarked may not be available for players in the near future.
DLC Campaigns and Target Platforms for Battlemarked
As for its potential platforms, Battlemarked will be available on PC, various extended reality devices, and a still-to-be-specified console—most likely the PlayStation 5, given that it is currently the only modern console with an associated VR headset. Resolution Games has not yet disclosed any pricing information for this upcoming title. For context, Demeo is currently priced at $39.99 on Steam and the Meta Store. At launch, Battlemarked will include two narrative-driven campaigns, with plans to introduce additional DLC campaigns post-release. Although likely to be a paid addition, the exact details regarding the DLC have not yet been confirmed.
