Apple’s Intelligent Features Gradually Rolling Out with iOS 18 Updates
Following last year’s announcement at WWDC, Apple has been steadily implementing its new Apple Intelligence features across compatible devices with the rollout of iOS 18 updates. Recent insights from Mark Gurman at Bloomberg indicated that Apple may be facing delays in launching the enhanced version of Siri, the voice-activated assistant.
Initially anticipated to debut with iOS 18.4, the much-anticipated Siri upgrades might now be postponed to the upcoming iOS 18.5 update. In Gurman’s latest Power On newsletter, he sheds light on ongoing software issues that are contributing to this delay in Siri’s enhancements.
What’s Included in iOS 18.5?
According to Gurman, iOS 18.5 is expected to include the much-anticipated AI-driven Siri features that were initially showcased last June. Furthermore, this update will enhance compatibility with Apple Intelligence in specific regions, such as China.

Minor Updates and Enhancements in iOS 18.4
The recent iOS 18.4 update introduced several minor upgrades, including a new section for food and recipes in Apple News+, interface adjustments in the Safari browser, enhancements to CarPlay, and the addition of Type to Siri functionality. Additionally, new language support was integrated into Apple Intelligence, alongside a fresh hand-drawn style for Image Playground. However, the anticipated Siri enhancements were noticeably absent, and now we understand the reasons behind this delay.
Looking Ahead to iOS 18.5
Gurman speculates that the iOS 18.5 update is likely to be released in May, with beta testing expected to commence shortly. He emphasizes that this new version of Siri could be pivotal for Apple’s resurgence in the voice assistant space, noting that it may arrive a significant 11 months after its initial reveal.
The enhancements coming to Siri with the Apple Intelligence update are poised to include:
