In the immersive world of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, players have the opportunity to construct a wide range of structures that significantly aid in survival and exploration. These constructions not only enhance individual gameplay experiences but also foster collaboration among players navigating the game’s challenging landscape.
Given the post-apocalyptic setting, traversing the expansive map often presents a challenge due to the absence of conventional roads. One particularly vital structure players can create is the bridge, which facilitates movement across treacherous terrains such as deep rivers and rugged cliffs.
Unlocking Bridges in Death Stranding 2

To begin building bridges in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, you first need to unlock the corresponding blueprint. This blueprint becomes available upon completing Order Number 5, which is an integral part of the main questline. Thus, it’s a milestone that is designed to be achieved by all players, regardless of their playstyle.
While Order Number 5 occurs relatively early in the game, your time to reach it can vary based on whether you are concentrating solely on the main narrative or engaging with side quests. Players focused on the main storyline can expect to complete this order around the 5-hour mark, while those exploring additional content may take longer.
Constructing Bridges in Death Stranding 2

Once you have the blueprint, specific materials are required for bridge construction. The primary item needed is a PCC Lv 1 (Portable Chiral Constructor), which can be crafted at any terminal located within Distribution Centers. Each bridge construction will necessitate one PCC Lv 1.
Additionally, you will need metals to build the bridge. The amount of metal required increases with the size of the bridge. Here’s a breakdown of metal requirements for different bridge lengths:
- 30m: 600 Metals
- 45m: 800 Metals
- 80m: 1200 Metals
If you find yourself short on metals, you can obtain more by recycling items at any Delivery Terminal. Simply navigate to the “Fabrication and Management”section and select the “Recycle and Store”option.
Keep in mind that, when constructing bridges, their positioning is critical. Both ends of the bridge must rest on flat ground, with no obstacles in the vicinity. If you attempt to place a bridge where it cannot be built, the hologram will turn red, accompanied by a notification explaining the reason, such as “Steep Slope Detected”or “Obstacle Detected.”
When successful, the hologram will glow blue, indicating that you can proceed with construction. Press R2 to initiate building at this point. If your supplied materials are insufficient for completing the bridge immediately, the structure will remain under construction and display a yellow border. To finish the build, simply interact with the terminal located on the bridge and select the “Complete Structure”option.
