The Talos Principle: Reawakened marks a significant enhancement of the beloved original puzzle game, revamping it with the advanced Unreal Engine 5. Developed by Croteam, this remaster includes not only improved graphics but also enriching developer commentary and a recently added expansion entitled In the Beginning.
This new expansion is particularly thrilling for seasoned players, featuring 18 intricate puzzles that are widely recognized as some of the most challenging within the entire series. The creative contributions of members from The Talos Principle community can be seen clearly, as you’ll find that 16 out of the 18 puzzles were collaboratively designed.
One such puzzle is Dead End, which stands out for its complexity yet offers an enjoyable path to the solution. For those seeking a hint, consider this: you’re more effective as a wall than as a window.
Puzzle Guide: Dead End in The Talos Principle: In the Beginning
As you embark on the Dead End puzzle, your initial step involves connecting lasers to nodes, which leads to the revelation of the puzzle’s namesake. Upon entering the puzzle area, you’ll notice that linking the red laser to the red node produces a gate that obstructs your path, necessitating a reset to progress.
Unlocking the gate is a straightforward task once you grasp the mechanics. After successfully bypassing it, the remainder of the puzzle becomes much more fluid and engaging.
Phase One: Initial Connections
Upon entering the puzzle zone, you will spot a red laser node directly ahead, a red laser generator on your left, and two connectors referred to as C1 and C2. Your first task begins here:

- First, take C1 and maneuver it beyond the point where the gate will close. Connect it to the blue laser and the two blue nodes located around the corner.

- Next, seize C2 and connect it to the red laser generator and red node. Position yourself in the laser’s direct path to facilitate crossing to the area beyond the gate without activating the red node. Upon stepping aside, the gate rises, and the blue laser will link to C1 and the surrounding blue nodes, allowing you to delve deeper into the puzzle corridor where you’ll discover a third connector (C3) tucked away around the corner.

- Utilize C3 to connect with the blue nodes but refrain from linking it to C1. Now that you’ve established a redundancy between C1 and C3, you can reposition C1 directly in the path of the red laser.

- Once C1 is correctly placed, activate the switch adjacent to it to lift the gate. With the red laser blocked from reaching the red node, you can now retrieve C2.
Phase Two: Final Steps

- The next steps are relatively simple. With C2 in hand, traverse around the corner and establish a connection with the blue laser. Retrieve C1 and continue linking the laser around the corner while ensuring C3 remains in place.

- Finally, pick up C3 and connect it to the blue node situated around the corner. This action will dismantle the shield barrier protecting the tetromino, ultimately finishing the puzzle.
Thus concludes the solution for Dead End. Like many of the most clever puzzles, it becomes seemingly straightforward once you experience that moment of revelation. This puzzle serves as a poignant reminder that the use of your robot’s physical presence goes beyond merely moving tools or activating pressure switches; it’s essential for navigating the challenges presented throughout The Talos Principle.
