DDR5 Memory Achieves Over 13000 MT/s Speed Milestone with Corsair Vengeance

We have officially surpassed the 13, 000 MT/s milestone in DDR5 memory speeds, a groundbreaking achievement for enthusiasts in the field. This remarkable record was made possible by utilizing Corsair Vengeance DDR5 paired with the GIGABYTE Z890 Aorus Tachyon ICE motherboard.

German Overclocker Sets New DDR5 Record at 13010 MT/s

In an exciting development from last month, renowned overclocker “saltycroissant”set a new DDR5 frequency record at 12, 920 MT/s on the same GIGABYTE Z890 Aorus TACHYON. Anticipation grew as saltycroissant appeared ready to break the 13, 000 MT/s mark. However, before he could officially document this achievement, fellow overclocker “sergmann”claimed the title by becoming the first person to officially reach beyond 13, 000 MT/s.

Sergmann's memory frequency score is 6504.9 MHz with DDR5 SDRAM, ranked 1st globally and in the DDR5 SDRAM category.

According to results verified by HWBot and corroborated by CPU-Z, sergmann achieved an exceptional DDR5 frequency of 6504.0 MHz, translating to an effective data rate of approximately 13, 010 MT/s. The journey to break the 13, 000 MT/s barrier has been long, as advancements had plateaued for several months following Intel’s release of the Core Ultra 200S processors and Z890 chipset motherboards.

The new Intel processors come equipped with robust memory controllers capable of supporting high DDR5 frequencies. As a result, many overclockers have now easily surpassed the 10, 000 MT/s threshold, with several enthusiasts recently achieving speeds exceeding 12, 000 MT/s. Sergmann’s setup included a 24 GB Corsair Vengeance DDR5 memory module and was powered by the Intel Core Ultra 9 285K, all cooled by liquid nitrogen to facilitate such striking memory transfer rates.

The specifications for achieving 13010 MT/s reveal a timing of CL68-127-127-127-2. Although these timings are not practical for everyday use since high latency can negate the advantages of such high speeds, they highlight the extraordinary nature of the accomplishment. The IMC to Memory Clock ratio sits at an impressive 3:190, which is essential for reaching these remarkable memory speeds. This achievement is more about conquering benchmarks than direct competition for daily performance.

Achieving these exceptional memory speeds is a complex endeavor requiring meticulous tuning of advanced motherboard circuitry, reliable memory controllers, and premium DRAM modules. Progressing from 13, 000 MT/s to 14, 000 MT/s will present an even greater challenge compared to the leap from 12, 000 MT/s to 13, 000 MT/s, but the excitement remains palpable as enthusiasts wonder if this milestone is attainable.
