Bohemia Interactive has unveiled the upcoming expansion for its popular survival game, DayZ, titled Badlands. Set to launch in 2026, this expansion will introduce players to the arid landscapes of the Nasdara province, characterized by a striking desert environment, revamped infected variants, and a host of new gameplay elements.

A Vast New Map to Explore

Described as “the largest official map in the game’s history, ”Badlands will offer gamers an expansive 267 square kilometers to investigate. Unlike a monotonous stretch of sand, players will encounter a diverse range of environments, including bustling towns, ancient ruins, and oil fields, which all contribute to the overarching narrative of survival in a post-war landscape.

“Bohemia Interactive vows to push the boundaries of what survival means in the DayZ universe with DayZ Badlands, ” the studio writes in a press release.

Surviving in the desert will require players to adopt new strategies, as they must now monitor their hydration levels and seek shelter from the punishing sun. Additionally, the introduction of new infected variants, tailored to thrive in this unforgiving environment, adds an extra layer of challenge for players navigating the desert’s perils.
