Kim Dorsey’s Accomplishments
Kim Marie Dunne Dorsey was born on October 10, 1974, to Dennis Dunne and Sally Anne Berent Dunne. She excelled academically, earning a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of North Florida. Subsequently, she established her own construction company and became a certified general contractor.
In addition to her entrepreneurial efforts, Kim served as the Director of Training for the Quality Assurance Department at Inspection Depot. She was married to Derrick Dorsey, an Engineer/Paramedic with the Jacksonville Fire/Rescue Department, and together they had three children: Dexter, Gracie, and Duncan.
Kim had a profound love for animals, and her pet Miniature Schnauzers were her beloved companions.
What Happened to Kim Dorsey?
According to The Florida Times-Union, Kim Dorsey was discovered murdered on the bathroom floor of her home at 3617 Eastbury Drive on October 28, 2012. Following his shift, her husband Derrick found Kim lying in a pool of blood.
Kim had been restrained with zip ties, and her body showed signs of brutal abuse. Her eyes were filled with blood, illustrating the severity of the violence inflicted upon her, and the condition of her body indicated that she had been murdered the previous day, as rigor mortis had set in.
The autopsy confirmed that Kim had been raped prior to her murder, and the DNA evidence led investigators to Lance Kirkpatrick. Court documents reveal that Kirkpatrick had broken into the Dorsey home to steal valuables to settle a drug debt but encountered Kim, who was alone at the time.
Reportedly, Kim and Derrick had previously offered Lance, a friend of Derrick’s, a place to stay during hard times. There were allegations of a physical relationship between Lance and Kim. As tensions rose over past infidelities, an argument between them escalated tragically, leading to Kim’s murder.
