Daredevil: Born Again will not serve as a complete reboot but rather as a soft reboot that links the original Netflix Daredevil series with the broader Marvel Cinematic Universe. The initial intent was to start afresh with the Daredevil franchise; however, following extensive revisions due to last year’s writers’ strike, the project was adjusted to integrate elements from the earlier Netflix incarnation.

This connection was reinforced by actor Vincent D’Onofrio in January, who returns as Kingpin. Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, he stated:

“During our creative reboot of Daredevil: Born Again, the team united and concluded, ‘This is the direction we must take.’ We are definitely discussing it as a direct continuation from the original Daredevil, and that’s exciting. It opens doors to numerous captivating stories and all the linked narratives from those original three seasons.”

What Is Daredevil: Born Again About?

The official synopsis for the anticipated Marvel series indicates that Matt Murdock is once again in conflict with Wilson Fisk / Kingpin. With Fisk striving to establish his political career in New York City amidst rising crime, Daredevil finds himself drawn back into action.

“Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox), a blind lawyer endowed with extraordinary abilities, seeks justice through his busy law firm, while former crime lord Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) embarks on his political journey in New York. As their pasts resurface, both men are destined for an unavoidable clash.”

Moreover, it seems Daredevil will join forces with The Punisher to tackle villainous threats within the city. Alongside Bullseye, the season will also introduce a fresh antagonist known as Muse.
