Although Spider-Man has become an established figure within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), he remains partially under Sony’s control. This situation arose from a 2015 agreement between Sony and Disney-owned Marvel Studios. Under this arrangement, Marvel has successfully featured Spider-Man in a trilogy and several Avengers films, while Sony retains primary rights over solo films and receives a portion of profits from all Spider-Man-related projects. However, these intricate licensing nuances create roadblocks for potential cameos in series like Daredevil: Born Again.

During a recent interview, Alex Perez from The Cosmic Circus touched on the possibility of Kevin Feige negotiating a deal that would grant Marvel full control over Spider-Man in non-solo and non-Avengers films. He mentioned that efforts are underway to secure a brief cameo by Spider-Man in Daredevil: Born Again, specifically as a teaser showcasing Kingpin’s pursuit of vigilantes. Nonetheless, he expressed caution regarding the actual feasibility of this cameo.

“I can’t guarantee that we’ll actually see Spider-Man in the series,” Perez noted.

Since Charlie Cox first portrayed Matt Murdock in the MCU’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, where he offered legal counsel to Peter Parker, it seems only fitting that Tom Holland’s Spider-Man would reciprocate in some capacity within the Daredevil series. The tangled web of negotiations between Sony and Marvel could frustrate fans hoping for a notable presence of Spider-Man within the show, especially considering the groundwork being laid for strong character interactions.

If Spider-Man does ultimately appear in Daredevil: Born Again, audiences may look forward to an exciting first live-action encounter with Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin, or a collaborative moment with Matt Murdock, rather than simply a legal discussion. However, based on Perez’s insights, his main inclusion might merely highlight Kingpin’s role as he tightens his grip on vigilantes in New York City. Consequently, while a face-off between Spider-Man and Kingpin or Daredevil could provide thrilling content, those moments may not culminate in significant confrontations, especially given the show’s reputation for intense and violent storytelling.
