Dandadan’s Growing Popularity
Yukinobu Tatsu’s Dandadan has enjoyed tremendous success since its serialization began in April 2021, with 17 volumes already released. Tatsu previously honed his craft as an assistant to prominent manga creators Tatsuki Fujimoto and Yuji Kaku.
After initially securing a green-light for Dandadan while still an assistant, Tatsu skillfully balanced his responsibilities before fully committing to the manga. To date, Dandadan has sold around 5 million copies, and that figure is expected to increase following the anime’s successful launch.
The anime adaptation was officially announced in November 2023, premiering its first episode in October 2024, with animation by the renowned Science Saru, known for iconic works such as Devilman Crybaby and Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!. Fūga Yamashiro took on the role of director, while music was composed by Kensuke Ushio. Character designs stemmed from Naoyuki Onda, along with unique visuals for alien and supernatural elements contributed by Yoshimichi Kameda.
The much-anticipated second season is confirmed to air in 2025, ensuring that fans won’t have to wait long to reunite with Momo, Okarun, and the rest of the beloved cast.
For streaming, Dandadan is available on Crunchyroll, allowing fans to enjoy both the manga and its animated adaptation.
