Near the Frontlines: Craig Jones’ Poignant Perspective on the Russia-Ukraine Conflict
Craig Jones’ recent visit to Ukraine has caught the interest of a large portion of the grappling community.
The Australian has traveled to Eastern Europe to organize multiple seminars with the goal of raising funds for the development of the Brazilian jiu-jitsu community in Ukraine.
Jones has extensively recorded his experiences in the region, which highlight the constant danger of air strikes. Recently, the BJJ star shared a video revealing the destruction caused by a bomb that detonated just five minutes away from his hotel in Kyiv.
He recently posted on Instagram an image of the game Medal of Honor: European Assault on Playstation Two, depicting the European conflict during World War Two. The game can be seen lying on the ground of a destroyed building.
“Amongst the rubble of a Ukrainian village destroyed by Russian forces lays the same PS2 game I used to play growing up. I bet they didn’t think the military he fought alongside in this game would destroy his village less than 20 years after its release.”
