Dalton Cooper’s Best 10 Television Series to Watch in 2024

Overview of TV Highlights in 2024

  • Arcane shines as a premier show of 2024, with intricate characters and thrilling action.
  • For comedy lovers, Ted, Solar Opposites, and Curb Your Enthusiasm are highly recommended.
  • Comic book enthusiasts should not miss The Penguin and X-Men ’97.

While a significant portion of my free time is dedicated to gaming, I equally indulge in television. In 2024, I managed to watch an impressive 86 seasons of various TV shows. Although some failed to impress, others emerged as exemplary representations of the medium, whether they were shown on traditional cable networks or streaming platforms.

Presenting my top ten favorite TV shows of 2024: please be aware that I have excluded programs that have not yet completed a full season, such as the entertaining Creature Commandos, which is currently airing on Max and may be included in next year’s tally.

My Top 10 TV Shows of 2024

Ted TV Show
Arcane Season 2
Baby Reindeer
Solar Opposites Season 5
X-Men '97
Curb Your Enthusiasm
The Penguin
The Circle Season 7
Fallout TV Show
Shogun
  1. Baby Reindeer (Mini-Series)
  2. The Circle (Seasons 6 & 7)
  3. Ted (Season 1)
  4. Solar Opposites (Season 5)
  5. The Penguin (Season 1)
  6. X-Men ’97 (Season 1)
  7. Shogun (Season 1)
  8. Fallout (Season 1)
  9. Curb Your Enthusiasm (Season 12)
  10. Arcane (Season 2)

If you are seeking humorous viewing options, I highly recommend Ted, Solar Opposites, and Curb Your Enthusiasm. To my surprise, Ted exceeded my expectations, delivering non-stop laughter—definitely one of the year’s highlights. Meanwhile, Solar Opposites stands out as an exceptional adult animated sitcom, alongside American Dad. Curb Your Enthusiasm continues to defy expectations, and Season 12 offered both laugh-out-loud moments and a fitting conclusion to the series. Additionally, I must mention Only Murders in the Building, which provided remarkable entertainment, though it just missed making my top 10 cut.

Some may question the inclusion of The Circle—a Netflix reality show—but I assure you, its entertainment value is unmatched. While it embodies many typical reality tropes, the surprising twists and cliffhangers make it irresistible for binge-watching. Fans of The Circle were fortunate to receive two new seasons this year, with Season 7 being particularly impressive.

Like Ted, I did not expect to be so captivated by The Penguin, which surpassed my initial skepticism. Colin Farrell’s portrayal of Oz Cobb, the Penguin, has garnered significant acclaim, along with Cristin Milioti’s standout performance as Sofia Falcone. Their compelling narratives leave viewers eager for more from the Matt Reeves Batman universe, making the announcement of The Batman 2’s delayed release until 2027 particularly disheartening.

The Penguin and Sofia

For comic book fans eager for another engaging series post-The Penguin, look no further than X-Men ’97 on Disney+. As a longtime fan of the original 90s animated series, I initially hoped that X-Men ’97 would live up to its legacy, but it has transcended those expectations with an action-packed season filled with tension and memorable episodes. Although a few episodes didn’t fully resonate, several of the year’s best television moments can be found within.

Each of these ten shows offers something special, but if I were to recommend just one, it would undoubtedly be Arcane on Netflix. This animated masterpiece captivates with its intricate character development, masterfully crafted dialogue, and exhilarating action sequences, elevated by exceptional performances. Arcane not only ranks among the best of 2024 but has also claimed a spot among my all-time favorites.

Looking into the future, 2025 promises an exciting lineup. Upcoming titles include The Last of Us Season 2, the concluding season of Stranger Things, and a new venture from Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan on Apple TV+. While 2024 has set a high bar, I eagerly await what unfolds in the coming year.
