Dak Prescott’s brother explains why Cowboys QB will be worse in 2024 NFL Season

Is there a possibility that Dak Prescott will have a disappointing season in 2024?

Despite their divisional rivals spending big on players like Saquon Barkley, Brian Burns, and Bobby Wagner, Prescott’s Dallas Cowboys have chosen to remain quiet in free agency. They appear to be focusing on securing their star quarterback for the long term, with potential plans to extend his contract beyond 2025.

According to Tad, Prescott’s brother, he is expected to perform even worse in the upcoming season. During the Paper Route segment on I AM ATHLETE, Tad stated:

“The only reason I say worse is because in order for him to be better: he’s an MVP. He’s a first team all Pro and he’s a Super Bowl champion… Literally Dak’s second team all-pro, second in MVP voting, leader in touchdown passes. So the only way you get better than that is to do what I just said. So I’m gonna have to just say worse based off of that.”

Cowboys insider predicts Dak Prescott’s contract extension

When it comes to the Cowboys extending Dak Prescott, there is at least one person who believes it will occur.

During yesterday’s episode of SPEAK, David Helman, the team’s insider for Fox Sports, expressed his optimism about the topic and even drew a comparison to the Atlanta Falcons’ decision to invest $180 million in Kirk Cousins. Helman’s positive outlook remained unchanged. He stated:

“You can say it’s equal, (Cousins) hasn’t done more. What just happened? He tore his Achilles, five years older than Dak Prescott and signed a major, major extension.”

Additionally, Helman identified two factors that would lead to the contract being issued – consistent performance during the regular season and a shortage of depth in the position.

“If you’re capable of being a franchise guy and leading a team to playoff caliber records on a regular basis, you get paid,”Helman said. “It almost doesn’t matter how he plays. He’s going to be in line for a major contract in Dallas.”

“I think the Cowboys will at some point recognize, ‘Oh it’s scary out there in no quarterback land.’ It sucks to not have a QB and the Cowboys know that at the end of the day,”he added.

In Arlington, there are two additional quarterbacks, Cooper Rush, who has served as a backup for a long time, and Trey Lance, who was acquired in a trade during the 2023 preseason. Both, like Prescott, will become free agents in 2025, unless Lance’s fifth year option (he was selected third overall in 2021) is exercised on or before May 2nd.
