Daisy from Below Deck Sailing Yacht Discusses Fallout with Gary After Love Triangle Drama

The highly anticipated Season 5 of Below Deck Sailing Yacht made its debut on Monday, October 7, 2024. This episode marked the reunion of Daisy Kelliher and Gary King, who previously entangled themselves in a dramatic love triangle with Colin MacRae during Season 4. Unfortunately, Colin was notably absent from this reunion as he did not return to his role as chief engineer aboard Parsifal III for this season.

During the premiere, Daisy shared her thoughts on her complicated relationship with Gary in light of the previous season’s upheaval. She openly admitted to feeling uneasy about encountering him again, reminiscing about the challenges she faced the last time around.

“While I’m really excited to be here, just seeing Gary makes me not want to be near him. He complicated my life a lot last season and didn’t respect my relationship,”Daisy expressed.

Daisy further admitted her reluctance to co-exist with Gary in the same work environment, apprehensive about how he might interact with her. However, as the episode progressed, they did cross paths, and Daisy seized the chance to hold Gary accountable for his past behavior.

Daisy from Below Deck Sailing Yacht expressed disappointment over Gary’s indifference

In Season 4 of Below Deck Sailing Yacht, aired in 2023, Daisy found herself at the center of a turbulent love triangle involving Gary and Colin. Initially, she had an intimate encounter with Gary before boarding, although they managed to keep their relationship under wraps at that time.

Things took a turn when Daisy began dating Colin as filming progressed in Season 4. Their romance ended once the cameras stopped rolling, leaving a negative impact on Daisy’s bond with Gary.

When Daisy and Gary reunited in Season 5, she confronted him with emotion regarding their bitter past. She stated:

“I really needed a f**king friend. After my breakup with Colin, I was feeling incredibly low and lonely. All I needed was a call from you. I needed you there.”

Daisy revealed that Gary’s cold demeanor only exacerbated her heartbreak during her breakup. She continued:

“I’m not upset that you were angry with me or that you had issues with me. What’s really upsetting is that you completely ignored me when I was reaching out to talk to you.”

In response, Gary attempted to justify his actions by explaining that he required time to process everything that had happened. Daisy emphasized that her disappointment stemmed not from his feelings about her relationship with Colin, but rather from his absence during her time of need.

Recognizing his misstep, Gary apologized to Daisy, expressing his desire to reset their relationship.

“I was scared and didn’t know how to put my thoughts into words. What kind of friend does that? I’m truly sorry,”he said.

During a reunion special in July 2023, both Gary and Colin reflected on their fraught relationships with Daisy, both hinting that their ties with her were irreparable. Meanwhile, Daisy revealed her heartbreak over risking her friendships by falling in love.

In a November 2023 interview with Us Weekly, Daisy shared insights from her complicated office romance:

“Don’t mix business with pleasure. There’s a reason that rule exists,”she said.

Daisy committed to separating her professional and personal life in upcoming seasons.

Gary took to Instagram in July 2023 to address his complex relationships with Daisy and Colin, asserting that he remained friends with his co-stars. Reflecting on the show, he acknowledged he had “much work to do”in his personal growth.

In the first episode of Season 5, following Gary’s heartfelt apology, Daisy agreed to leave their past disputes behind and embark on a fresh start.
