Recent leaks indicate that MultiVersus was planning to introduce Daffy Duck among other content and continue for several more seasons. Initially, players welcomed the concept of bringing Warner Bros.characters into a format similar to Super Smash Bros. Unfortunately, the game unexpectedly went offline in June 2023, with a planned revival in May 2024.
Upon its return, MultiVersus faced increasing challenges, particularly around monetization strategies and a tedious progression system. Unfortunately, these issues have contributed to its classification as a financial disappointment for Warner Bros. Games, further compounding difficulties following the release of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. Additionally, players expressed frustration over balancing issues, with characters like Iron Giant and Finn being perceived as excessively strong, compounded by the removal or absence of certain features, such as offline accessibility for all characters.
The leak from dataminer Multiversusie suggests that the game contained references to a potential Daffy Duck addition, seen through an interaction between Lola Bunny and Daffy in the game files. Lola made her debut in MultiVersus during Season 5, which also saw the introduction of Aquaman, unlockable via the game’s battle pass.
Ambitious Plans for Expanded Content

According to another leak from Multiversusie, MultiVersus had aspirations to continue until Season 10, concluding on January 6, 2026. While the specifics regarding new characters and stages remain undisclosed, Season 5 commenced on February 4 and featured the launch of Aquaman and Lola Bunny, alongside new content like the Wacky Weekends mode, the Wabbit Season maps, and various balancing adjustments.
Players praised the fifth season’s launch, emphasizing the improved gameplay dynamics that accelerated the game’s pace. However, this update represents a bittersweet moment in MultiVersus’s journey, as it has struggled to maintain its initial momentum. With servers set to go offline on April 30, players are granted a few more months to engage in online duels. Following the shutdown, only offline modes will be available, allowing matches with friends or solo play against AI.
