This announcement rekindles excitement from last year’s reveal that the game would feature advanced path tracing on this platform. However, CD PROJEKT RED has made it clear that, upon the launch, ray tracing will not be activated by default on any compatible Mac, regardless of the device’s specifications.

The intention behind this decision is to ensure optimal performance across various hardware configurations. Ray tracing, inherently a resource-draining graphical setting, can drastically affect frame rates, especially on less powerful machines. Reports indicate that to experience ray tracing while maintaining a consistent 60 frames per second (FPS), users will need an M3 Max.
