Nearly four years after its initial release, Cyberpunk 2077 is set to debut on a new platform: macOS. This highly acclaimed RPG, developed by CD Projekt RED, was announced for Mac users during the recent M4 MacBook Pro presentation. Notably, at the 10-minute mark in the video embedded below, there’s a brief mention highlighting the gaming capabilities of the hardware, which reveals that Cyberpunk 2077 is expected to launch on macOS “early next year.”
CD Projekt RED also shared additional insights on its official blog. The title coming to macOS is the Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition, which includes both the core game and the newly launched Phantom Liberty expansion:
“Cyberpunk 2077 and its spy-thriller expansion Phantom Liberty will be available on Mac, making the dark and immersive future accessible to Mac gamers for the very first time. This release fully utilizes the capabilities of Apple silicon and the advanced Metal technologies.”
Although the original launch of the game was fraught with challenges and required numerous updates to improve the community’s opinion, Cyberpunk 2077 is currently regarded as one of the top games on the market. A recent update also introduced features such as FSR 3 frame generation and Intel XeSS. The Phantom Liberty expansion, released in September, received an overwhelmingly positive response from both gamers and critics, signifying the conclusion of additional content for the game.
Regarding the technical enhancements that Apple silicon users can look forward to, CD Projekt RED mentioned, “players can expect advanced features like path tracing, frame generation, and integrated Spatial Audio to enhance immersive gameplay and visual quality.”
The Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition will be accessible on Steam, GOG, the Epic Games Store, and the Mac App Store. A specific release date and further information about the port will be disclosed in 2025.
