NVIDIA DLSS Confirmed for Cyberpunk 2077 on Nintendo Switch 2
In a groundbreaking announcement, Cyberpunk 2077 has been confirmed as the inaugural title to integrate NVIDIA’s DLSS technology on the Nintendo Switch 2. However, current gameplay footage does not distinctly showcase the effects of this advanced upscaling technology.
Official Confirmation from CD Projekt RED
During a recent episode of their weekly podcast, celebrated tech analysts at Digital Foundry disclosed that they received explicit confirmation from CD Projekt RED regarding the utilization of a specialized version of DLSS tailored for the Nintendo Switch 2’s Tensor Core architecture. This technology will be employed across all four display modes: docked Quality, docked Performance, handheld Quality, and handheld Performance.
Examining the Footage for DLSS Indicators
Following the confirmation, the team at Digital Foundry meticulously examined the available footage in the highest quality possible to identify visual markers indicative of DLSS implementation. Due to the subpar post-processing quality—lower than the primary footage—detecting the characteristic “edges”associated with DLSS was challenging. Nevertheless, some signs of the upscaling technology did emerge upon closer scrutiny.
Dynamic Resolution Scaling Explained
As part of their revelations, CD Projekt RED clarified that while all modes aim to achieve a 1080p resolution, there are exceptions. The handheld Performance mode targets a 720p resolution. Dynamic resolution scaling will be employed across these modes, adjusting the resolution between 540p and 1080p for display modes that target 1080p, and between 360p and 720p for handheld Performance.
Launch Details
Cyberpunk 2077 is set to release on Nintendo Switch 2 on June 5th, coinciding with the console’s launch in numerous regions. In addition to the Switch 2, the game is already accessible on a variety of platforms, including PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Xbox One.
