CXMT, the foremost memory chip producer in China, has recently announced the commencement of mass production of DDR5 memory modules, marking a significant milestone in the country’s technological aspirations.
Significant Advancement in China’s Memory Technology: CXMT’s Mass Production of DDR5
In light of shifting geopolitical dynamics, Chinese tech companies have intensified efforts to establish robust in-house production capabilities. Among these players, CXMT stands out as the leading manufacturer of consumer memory modules in China. According to a report from the Korean news outlet Chosun, the company has successfully launched mass production of DDR5 memory technology, underscoring China’s aggressive advancement within this competitive segment of the tech industry.

Notably, two Chinese companies, KingBank and Gloway, have begun integrating CXMT’s DDR5 memory solutions into their consumer products. These modules, available in configurations of up to 32 GB, utilize “China-made”DDR5 chips, which have garnered positive reception in the domestic consumer market.

This recent achievement in DDR5 technology indicates that China is closing the gap with established industry leaders such as South Korean manufacturers. Analysts suggest that if current trends continue, China may ultimately surpass its competitors in the memory sector. However, due to ongoing international sanctions, Chinese firms lack access to cutting-edge technologies like extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography, compounding their reliance on older manufacturing techniques.
As CXMT ramps up its high-volume production capabilities, the potential for significant market penetration becomes evident. The maturation of DDR5 technology could facilitate greater adoption of Chinese memory products, possibly reshaping the competitive landscape in the near future.
