In the digital world, your browser should cater to your preferences rather than the other way around. For those who cherish Vivaldi, recent updates allow you to extensively personalize your browsing experience, enhancing both productivity and user satisfaction.
Personalize Your Tab Placement
No longer confined to the traditional top placement, your tabs can now be rearranged to the bottom, left, or right side of your Vivaldi browser by simply updating to the latest version.
To initiate this process, click on the V menu button located in the top left corner, then select Settings followed by Tabs from the sidebar.

Within the Tab Bar Position settings, choose a configuration that suits your workflow best. Additionally, consider exploring other tab-related settings, such as:
- Adjusting how new tabs are opened
- Personalizing your new tab page to include frequently visited sites
- Selecting how tabs are displayed and loaded in the Tab Display section
- Deciding on tab stacking methods (options include compact, accordion, two-level, or default) in Tab Stacking
- Muting tab audio for either all tabs or only inactive ones
Manage your open and recently closed tabs effortlessly by clicking the Tabs button to quickly search and navigate to your preferred tabs.

Refine Vivaldi’s Toolbars
Browser toolbars frequently fall short, either overwhelming users with excess options or leaving crucial tools buried within menus. Vivaldi addresses this with highly customizable toolbars through a user-friendly drag-and-drop interface.
To begin, right-click any toolbar item and select Customize Toolbar. This setting allows for comprehensive modification of all toolbars in a singular interface.
Select the toolbar you wish to modify from the dropdown menu to view all available icons paired with their respective names.

Simply drag and drop icons to rearrange them on your selected toolbar. The Toolbar Editor will provide a live preview of your current selections. To remove an icon, simply drag it out of the toolbar area. Without the Toolbar Editor open, you can also right-click an icon and select Remove from Toolbar.

After completing your edits, click Done. Should you wish to revert to default settings, you can easily do so by selecting Reset Toolbar Name to Default.
You have the flexibility to intersperse toolbar options across various toolbars. For example, you may wish to relocate Address Bar features to your screen’s lower section or merge elements from the Panel Bar and Tab Bar. Ultimately, the customization reflects your individual style.
Personalize the Vivaldi Menu
Customization options extend beyond toolbars to the Vivaldi menu itself. To modify the menu, click on the V icon in the top left and select Settings. From there, navigate to Appearance and scroll to the Menu section.
You can determine the menu’s placement (either behind a button or horizontally displayed) and select between using the traditional V icon or a hamburger menu style. Under Menu Customization, you can further personalize the menu items.
Drag and drop options to rearrange them as desired. Right-click on options to rename them, add folders, create separators, or even delete unneeded items.

Adjust Your Overall Look
Similar to other popular browsers like Firefox, Vivaldi allows you to modify its theme. Access this feature by selecting the V menu, then Settings and proceeding to the Themes tab.

The Library tab features pre-defined themes, providing a swift way to revamp your New Tab appearance and overall color scheme. If you prefer to design your own theme, click New Theme to access the Editor window. Additionally, a Get more themes link will direct you to a selection of further pre-made themes.
To create a custom theme or modify an existing one (be it your own or a pre-set design), switch to the Editor tab found above the themes list. Here, you can update colors, settings, icons, and even the background image, utilizing any image stored on your device.

For users who apply Bing Wallpaper to their desktops, enable the Background -> Use Desktop image option to refresh your theme image daily. This feature is accessible only within the Editor window.
Furthermore, you can establish a Theme Schedule, adjust Razer Chroma Theme Integration, and configure Philips Hue Theme Integration. If needed, a reset button is readily available for restoring settings to their defaults.
Establish Custom Workspaces
For those who utilize their browser for various tasks—ranging from professional work to recreational browsing—setting up custom workspaces in Vivaldi can significantly enhance your efficiency.
Find the Workspaces icon, represented by three stacked squares, located in the top toolbar by default. If it’s missing, you can add it by right-clicking any toolbar and choosing Customize Toolbar, then dragging the Workspaces option to your preferred location.
Clicking on the Workspaces icon allows you to view existing workspaces and create new ones tailored to specific functions.
Load relevant tabs for activities, like work-related sites. When ready, expand Workspaces, select New workspace, and then click New Workspace with selected tabs.

Assign a name and an optional icon to your new workspace, ensuring that all associated tabs are readily accessible when you switch to that workspace.
It is noteworthy that Vivaldi does not impose AI features on its users, steering clear of becoming an AI-centered browser. Users are still free to access AI tools via tabs should they wish to utilize them.
