Customize Mouse Pointer Appearance in Android 15 QPR1 Beta 2

With the latest quarterly platform update of Android 15, Google is unveiling the exciting features that users can look forward to in this year’s major operating system update. A significant enhancement is the potential for simplified keyboard switching, improving upon the existing process. Additionally, Android 15 has indicated possible options for adjusting the resolution and orientation of external displays.

In the second beta release of Android 15 QPR1, intriguing customization features have been added to the Settings menu. Notably, the team at Android Authority has identified a range of settings that allow users to customize the mouse pointer.

Upon installing Android 15 QPR1 Beta 2 on a Pixel device and connecting a keyboard with an integrated touchpad, users can explore new settings options by navigating to Settings > System > Touchpad & mouse.

In this section, users will encounter options such as a fill style selector, a pointer stroke style selector, and a pointer scale slider. Through the pointer fill style, users can change the inner color of the mouse pointer from the default black to various vibrant colors including green, pink, blue, and yellow, enhancing visibility against complex backgrounds.

The pointer stroke style selector provides the option to add either a black or white outline to the mouse pointer, further customizing its appearance. Additionally, the pointer scale slider allows users to adjust the size of the mouse pointer, accommodating different preferences. Importantly, these customization options are automatically presented when a keyboard with a touchpad is connected.

The introduction of mouse pointer customization in Android 15 indicates Google’s commitment to enhancing productivity on Android tablets. Google has published the source code for Android 15 on the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) and is expected to roll out the stable version of Android 15 for supported devices in October.
