Microsoft Expands Xbox Repairability via Partnership with Currys

In a significant move to enhance its Xbox repairability program, Microsoft has partnered with Currys, making it possible for Xbox console owners in the UK and Ireland to access repair services through this prominent retailer. This collaboration aims to facilitate easier repairs for gamers while promoting sustainability in technology consumption.

First Authorized Service Provider in the Region

Currys stands out as the first Xbox Authorized Service Provider in the UK and Ireland, enabling customers to have their Xbox Series X|S consoles repaired at any Currys store, regardless of where the consoles were purchased. This initiative covers both in-warranty and out-of-warranty repairs, providing comprehensive support to users.

A Step Forward in Partnerships

This partnership builds on previous collaborative efforts between Microsoft and Currys, which began in 2024 when Currys started offering repair services for Surface devices at more than 300 locations in the UK and Ireland. The aim has always been to enhance customer service through accessible technology repair solutions.

Wider Ecosystem of Repair Options

Moreover, Microsoft’s initiative gained momentum in December 2024 when it partnered with iFixit. This partnership provided official repair guides and components for Xbox Series X|S devices. Subsequently, in January 2025, uBreakiFix by Asurion also joined the ranks as an authorized service provider, establishing over 700 locations in the United States to serve customers needing repairs for their Xbox Series X|S consoles.

Commitment to Sustainability

These expansive repair options align with Microsoft’s broader strategy to position itself as a zero-waste, carbon-negative, and water-positive company by the year 2030. Such commitments underscore the importance of extending the lifespan of electronic products, ultimately contributing to efforts to tackle the growing e-waste problem.

By collaborating with established retailers like Currys, Microsoft not only enhances convenience for consumers but also fosters a culture of sustainability and responsible tech usage.
