Directed by Lyttanya Shannon, Netflix’s documentary titled Sweet Bobby: My Catfish Nightmare thoroughly investigates this intricate web of online deception, shedding light on the disturbing experiences endured by the victims.
Sweet Bobby is a riveting true account of a prolonged catfishing saga that inspired the Tortoise podcast of the same name. The Netflix series recounts the distressing story of Kirat Assi, who was deceived over nearly ten years by a family member, as well as the experiences of Bobby and Sanj, who were also unaware participants in this troubling affair.
Who is Sanj Jandu, and what is her current situation?
Sanj Jandu, married to Bobby Jandu, became entangled in Kirat Assi’s catfishing travesty, which also involved identity theft. The couple reportedly fell in love in 2011, culminating in Bobby’s proposal, followed by their marriage a year later. Together, they are parents to a son and a daughter.
Their lives appeared stable until 2018, when Kirat arrived at their home in an agitated state, claiming Bobby had been involved with her for many years while misleading her. Bobby firmly rejected these claims, and Sanj remained loyal, trusting her husband without hesitation.
According to Sanj, Bobby never gave her a cause for doubt, prompting her to support him when he insisted that he had no connection with Kirat whatsoever.
Eventually, it emerged that Bobby’s identity had been hijacked to manipulate and exploit Kirat, revealing that he unknowingly endured identity theft for years.
This challenging experience ultimately strengthened the bond between Sanj and Bobby, as their relationship was fueled by mutual understanding, trust, and respect. Currently, Sanj lives in Brighton with Bobby and their two young children: a nine-year-old son and a five-year-old daughter.
