DownDetector, a prominent real-time network outage monitoring service, has been documenting the Xbox server problems since they began. The official Xbox Live status page corroborates these findings; however, not all Xbox services are currently impacted.

As per the official status page, the affected services include account & profile management, friends & social activity, and cloud gaming & remote play. Nevertheless, other services like the Xbox Store and subscription features are functioning correctly.

According to DownDetector, the first reports of Xbox Live service outages emerged around 4 PM on October 2, 2024, with over 4,000 reports from the United States alone. The global total is likely much higher as this is not exclusively an issue affecting users in the U.S.

There was scheduled maintenance for several Xbox servers; unfortunately, almost all the servers went down during this process. Users promptly took to X (formerly Twitter) to voice their frustrations about the server outages.

One user, @iunarihs_, expressed their disappointment as this outage occurred just before they intended to play Baldur’s Gate 3 with mods. Many other users are sharing similar sentiments.
