On Wednesday, October 2, the eighth episode of Netflix’s South Korean culinary series, Culinary Class Wars, premiered. In this exciting episode, the participating chefs were challenged to create recipes using items commonly found in convenience stores. Among the mix of talented Black and White Chefs, three recipes stood out as winners.

The winning dishes were Napoli Mafia’s Chestnut Tiramisu, Cooking Maniac’s Ramyeon Pad Thai, and Jung Ji-sun’s Ramyeon You Po Mian.

In response to fans’ enthusiasm, Netflix revealed the recipes curated by the chefs. The ingredients for these delectable dishes are easily accessible at South Korean convenience stores and home kitchens.

Culinary Class Wars is a captivating reality cooking show featuring 80 Black Spoon Chefs and 20 White Spoon Chefs. The Black Chefs are amateur cooking enthusiasts, while the White Chefs are professional culinary experts trained in prestigious hotels and restaurants.

Here are the detailed recipes for the three winning dishes from the latest challenge, the Convenience Store mission:

1) Chestnut Tiramisu by Napoli Mafia (Black Chef)

Ingredients

  • One pack of snack chestnuts
  • 500ml of milk
  • 250g of cream cheese
  • Whole wheat biscuits
  • Toffee nut latte
  • 400ml of heavy cream
  • Chocolate
  • Granola

Recipe

  1. Boil one pack of snack chestnuts with milk, then blend into a puree.
  2. Combine the chestnut puree with cream cheese, chill in the freezer for 30 minutes, and then mix with heavy cream.
  3. Create a base using four whole wheat biscuits soaked in toffee nut latte, layer it with the cream mixture three times.
  4. Grate slightly frozen chocolate over the top.
  5. Toast the granola in a frying pan and sprinkle it on top for added crunch.

2) Ramyeon You Po Mian – Jung Ji-sun (White Chef)

Ingredients

  • Six cheongyang peppers
  • Three cloves of minced garlic
  • 20g of oyster sauce
  • 20g of sugar
  • 50g of heated dumpling filling
  • 2 tbsp of canned corn
  • One onion
  • One pack of instant ramyeon noodles
  • 1/2 packet of ramyeon soup seasoning
  • One label of cooking oil

Recipe

  1. Dry-roast the chili peppers in a pan until slightly charred to enhance their flavor.
  2. Finely chop the roasted peppers and mix with minced garlic, oyster sauce, sugar, and heated dumpling filling to create the sauce.
  3. Boil the instant ramyeon noodles and drain them.
  4. On cooked noodles, add canned corn, chili sauce, chopped onions for flavor, and half a packet of ramyeon soup seasoning.
  5. Top it off by pouring hot cooking oil over everything.

3) Ramyeon Pad Thai – Cooking Maniac (Black Chef)

Ingredients

  • 80g of chicken breast
  • 100g of crab stick
  • 80g of whelk
  • 100g of onion
  • 3-4 cloves of garlic
  • 80g of bean sprouts
  • Canola oil
  • 2 tbsp of oyster sauce
  • One pack of instant ramyeon noodles
  • 1.5 packets of ramyeon seasoning
  • 1 tbsp of sugar
  • 1½ tbsp of soy sauce
  • Lemon juice
  • One egg

Recipe

  1. Blanch the noodles and bean sprouts in boiling water, then cool them in ice water and remove excess moisture.
  2. Slice the onion and garlic for preparation.
  3. Stir-fry the onion and garlic in canola oil, quickly adding soy sauce until fragrant.
  4. Mix in the ramyeon seasoning and stir-fry until completely dissolved.
  5. Add in chicken breast, crab stick, and whelk, continuing to stir-fry.
  6. Incorporate the noodles and bean sprouts, stirring together thoroughly.
  7. Sprinkle sugar evenly to enhance the umami, then drizzle with lemon juice.
  8. Plate the dish and top it with a fried egg before serving.
