CS2 Patch Notes – October 28, 2024

Here’s the latest update on CS2 patch notes:

[ JUMPING MECHANICS ]

  • Jump height now maintains a consistency of within 0.015625 units, regardless of the player’s distance from the map origin at the coordinate point (0,0,0).
  • In previous iterations of CS:GO and CS2, jump height fluctuated by as much as 0.03125 units based on the proximity to the map origin.
  • Enhanced consistency for landing successfully on surfaces that are nearly at the peak jump height.
  • Jump height remains influenced by stamina; utilizing the cl_showpos 2 command will display stamina at the moment of jumping, with color-coded outputs indicating the optimal jump height.
  • A bug was resolved that caused cl_showpos to inaccurately report jump height when launching from inclined surfaces.
  • Fixed issues that caused players to be abruptly pulled down during jumps if the server did not recognize the jump as valid.

[ MISCELLANEOUS ]

  • Revised weapon pick-up logic near the C4, prioritizing defusal tasks to prevent accidental weapon grabs.
  • Enemies will reliably display a flinch animation upon being hit, especially when bullets penetrate through two equally prioritized hitboxes (e.g., simultaneous hits to the right and left legs).
  • HE grenade explosions within a smoke cloud will now dissipate the smoke effect for players caught in that range.
  • Improvements to overall game stability.

[ MAP ADJUSTMENTS ]

  • Dust II
  • Fixed a structural gap in the map geometry.

The recent adjustments are expected to significantly enhance player movement dynamics. Techniques such as bunny-hopping will be smoother and more fluid. Furthermore, with the cl_showpos 2 command corrected, players can now accurately monitor their in-game velocity and jump metrics.

Additionally, improved quality-of-life modifications such as automatic prioritization of bomb defusals and plantings over weapon pickups will greatly enhance gameplay experience. Lastly, HE grenades have been made more dependable, ensuring that players within damage range will be affected.
