“COULD’VE BEEN AN EMAIL” — Disappointment Among America’s Got Talent Fans Over Two-Hour Finale

“COULD’VE BEEN AN EMAIL” — Disappointment Among America’s Got Talent Fans Over Two-Hour Finale

America’s Got Talent unveiled the second part of its season 19 finale on Tuesday, September 24, 2024. This segment, titled Finale Results, featured host Terry Crews disclosing America’s votes and ultimately announcing the winner of the show.

Before the results were revealed, the final ten contestants performed on stage one last time. Some contestants collaborated on memorable pieces, while others were joined by notable celebrity guests. Among the stars who appeared on the AGT stage were The Detroit Youth Choir, Simone Biles, Steve Aoki, Michael Bublé, Andra Day, Journey, Gabriel Iglesias, and the cast of Magic Mike Live.

The two-hour finale predominantly showcased these guest performances, with the results being revealed in the final moments of the episode. Fans of America’s Got Talent expressed their dissatisfaction with the format of the show. Many took to X to voice concerns over the excessive “filler”acts, arguing that a separate episode for the results was unnecessary.

“THIS FINALE COULD’VE BEEN AN EMAIL,”a fan wrote.

“I hate finale shows because they’re so long. Just get on with it!”another fan commented.

“Also next season needs an overhaul. Whoever decided the finale should air with 90 minutes of filler and then jam all the results into 30 minutes should be fired. Also, why was this not live? It makes no sense. Some of the season’s decisions were poor, like the live buzzers,”a netizen tweeted.

Many fans noted that because the America’s Got Talent finale was pre-recorded, the winner’s identity had already leaked online through various sources.

“.@AGT, get your NDA lawyer involved and never produce a pre-recorded finale again! The leaks about the winner are ruining the experience for viewers and the show as a whole,”a user reacted.

“The fact that there are spoilers out for the finale is absurd. AGT needed a strong justification for this pre-taped decision because what a terrible idea that was,”one person commented.

“Well, #AGT better have learned their lesson from splitting the finale over a week and having the winner spoiled,”one fan wrote.

Meanwhile, a majority of America’s Got Talent viewers criticized the extended finale.

“Am I the only one who thinks the #AGT finale and result shows are unnecessary? Do people really enjoy them? I just want to know the results; it doesn’t need to be a full-blown production. Maybe I’m in the minority? I’m super curious about what everyone thinks,”another user tweeted.

“I’ve managed to watch 2 hours of DWTS and finish off the Red Sox game before finally flipping to #AGT just in time to see who makes top 5. This further proves there’s absolutely no need for the finale to occupy 3 hours of the schedule,”one netizen commented.

“Who else thinks that the #AGT finale could’ve been condensed into ONE HOUR?”another person reacted.
