Could SmackDown star be looking to replace Dominik Mysterio ahead of WrestleMania 40?

At WrestleMania 40, Dominik Mysterio and his father, Rey Mysterio, will once again face off in a highly anticipated match. However, this time, they will not be the only ones in the ring. Joining them in the tag team match will be Santos Escobar and Dragon Lee, who will team up with Dirty Dom and The Master of the 619 respectively. This will add an exciting dynamic to the father-son rivalry as the leader of Legado Del Fantasma and the newest member of the Latino World Order enter the mix.

The ongoing feud between Legado Del Fantasma and the Latino World Order intensified in recent weeks due to the intriguing connection between Dominik and Escobar. “Dirty Dom”angered Rhea Ripley and The Judgment Day on RAW when he aligned with Legado Del Fantasma without their consent. This caused a furious reaction from Rhea Ripley towards the former NXT North American Champion. However, an unexpected individual, Angel, introduced himself to Mami during this heated situation.

The Mexican superstar, Angel of Legado Del Fantasma, attempted to shake hands with the current Women’s World Champion. However, Ripley responded by pushing his hand away and firmly stating that he should not touch her.

Despite being 31 years old, this rising star has yet to establish himself in the WWE. It is possible that he has his sights set on WrestleMania 40 and is intent on eliminating Dominik Mysterio in order to achieve his big break.

Angel attempts to sway Rhea Ripley in a scheme to claim Dominik Mysterio’s spot at WrestleMania 40

Ever since Dominik Mysterio betrayed Rey Mysterio and Edge (now known as Adam Copeland) to join The Judgment Day at Clash at the Castle in 2022, he has been inseparable from Rhea Ripley. As they approach WrestleMania 40, their bond has only grown stronger.

During the most recent episode of RAW, Ripley emphasized to Dirty Dom that he should have sought her approval before conducting any business with Legado Del Fantasma. Dominik appeared visibly concerned about disappointing the current Women’s World Champion.

Despite Angel’s attempts to break the ice with Ripley, he was unsuccessful. Nevertheless, he continued his efforts by sending a message to Mami on X/Twitter.

It appears that Angel is familiar with Rhea’s history of promoting talented individuals to top positions and competing for prestigious awards. In November of last year, Mami made a deal with Drew McIntyre, who became a member of The Judgement Day’s Men’s WarGames Match at Survivor Series.

In December 2023, Angel and Berto were recruited by Santos Escobar to join Legado Del Fantasma. They became his loyal henchmen after he defeated Joaquin Wilde and Cruz Del Toro of the Latino World Order.

According to the August 2023 report from Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it seems that the ultimate goal for Angel and Berto is to transition them into babyfaces in the long run.

“Carillo (Berto) and Garza (Angel) right now are in NXT but there is a long-term main roster idea for them as a babyface tag team.”

Throughout his time in WWE, Angel has consistently shown charisma and impressive in-ring abilities. A potential babyface role and feud with Dominik Mysterio could greatly benefit him, as it would give him the opportunity to take the latter’s spot at WrestleMania 40 and showcase his talents even more.

Potential Jealousy Between Angel and Dominik Mysterio at WrestleMania 40

Angel’s big break on the main roster came when Dominik Mysterio emerged from his father’s shadow and joined the scene. In April 2020, Angel and Andrade teamed up to face Dominik and his partner in a tag team competition.

Similarly to Dominik, the former NXT Cruiserweight Champion began his journey on the main roster by teaming up with Andrade and being managed by Zelina Vega.

As Dominik began his career, he chose to team up with Rey Mysterio and this decision ultimately led him down a successful path. He eventually joined The Judgment Day, under the guidance of Rhea Ripley, who helped him develop into a true superstar.

This is where Angel might become envious of the 26-year-old celebrity because he is receiving opportunities that he may believe he deserves. While Angel was competing in mid-card matches, Dirty Dom was facing opponents like CM Punk in the Best in the World’s comeback match.

Despite the unlikelihood of Angel being able to step in for Dominik Mysterio at WrestleMania 40, there is a possibility that the Mexican athlete has a surprise plan in store.
