The much-anticipated return of Matt Murdock, portrayed by Charlie Cox, has generated significant excitement among Daredevil enthusiasts. Having made appearances in both Spider-Man: No Way Home and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, fans are now speculating about potential cameos in the upcoming series, Daredevil: Born Again.
Cameos have always been a hallmark of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).We witnessed iconic moments such as Nick Fury’s surprise appearance in Iron Man and Tony Stark’s cameo in the post-credits scene of The Incredible Hulk. Recently, the trend of unexpected cameos has resurfaced, delighting viewers. For instance, Matt Murdock’s return in No Way Home and She-Hulk was a fantastic way to reignite interest, while Bucky Barnes also made a surprise entrance in Captain America: Brave New World.
As devoted Marvel fans, it’s completely reasonable to hope for more crossovers, particularly with the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again. Recently, Tatiana Maslany, the star of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, spoke on the possibility of a reunion with Matt during the premiere of her film The Monkey. She shared her enthusiasm for returning to Matt’s world in an interview with Tessa Smith from ScreenRant.
“Would I be born again? I mean, absolutely, he was so great. He was so fun, like a really fun person to play with, ” Maslany expressed. She praised Charlie Cox’s ability to adapt Matt Murdock’s character to fit the tone of She-Hulk.“What he did so well was take a character that exists in a different tone and totally adapt him for this new tone, while still maintaining the integrity of the character, which is actually very funny, then. To see him collide with this sort of goofier world.”
When probed about modifying her character, Jennifer Walters, to fit into Daredevil: Born Again, Maslany humorously remarked, “I have a serious, well, I have a lot of serious bones in my body.”
I’d Love to See It
The dynamic between Daredevil and She-Hulk resonates strongly because both characters share a professional background in law. If Jennifer were to interact with any character outside of her cousin, Bruce Banner, a fellow attorney like Matt Murdock seems the most fitting. In their portrayal, both characters exude a sense of openness as single individuals navigating life in Los Angeles, making a romantic connection between them feel organic.
This connection fuels my desire to see more of their togetherness. In the comics, there are storylines where they are depicted as a couple, which blurs the lines of unrealistic expectations. Given Matt’s personality, he could certainly benefit from someone like Jen to challenge and balance him.
While it remains uncertain whether we will see Jennifer Walters in Hell’s Kitchen in the upcoming season, reports suggest that production for a second season of Born Again is already underway. If this hints at a potential reunion between Matt and Jen, I’m more than willing to bide my time. Maslany’s insights certainly heighten my anticipation. With her exceptional acting skills, witnessing Jennifer navigate Matt’s world—especially after Charlie Cox seamlessly blended into Jen’s comedic universe—would be a thrilling experience.
