Copilot for Microsoft 365 adds GPT-4 Turbo model; ditches cap limits on turns and chats
Just a few days ago, Microsoft revealed several new features that are currently in development for their Copilot for Microsoft 365 AI assistant service. However, it appears that the company has chosen to hold off on announcing a few additional updates for this particular service until today.
In a post on the Microsoft 365 blog today, the company stated that Copilot for Microsoft 365 will now offer priority access to OpenAI’s most powerful large language model, GPT-4 Turbo. This new feature was previously only available on the free version of Copilot. GPT-4 Turbo was first announced by OpenAI in November 2023 and boasts a large 128K context window, allowing for a text prompt of up to 300 pages if necessary.
This modification will affect both the online version and the work version, which includes data from your own work and that of others in your company. Microsoft also stated that the limits on the number of chats and inputs for Copilot in Microsoft 365 have been lifted.
Microsoft has recently revealed its plans to enhance the AI art creator Microsoft Designer inside Copilot for Microsoft 365. This includes the launch of GPT-4 Turbo and the removal of restrictions on chat and turn limits. Furthermore, starting from May, the daily image generation boosts for Microsoft Designer will be amplified from 15 to 100 per day.
According to Microsoft, the Copilot web site will be the first platform to receive the new additions and improvements, followed by the Copilot mobile apps. Subsequently, the updates will be available for Windows and the Edge web browser. Last week, the company had announced its plans to incorporate grounded work data into Copilot for its productivity apps such as Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint, which is expected to be implemented sometime this month.
